Imagine if on D-Day 1944, voters in many allied countries began fancying nationalist politicians who did not want to fight Hitler.
We are at Ukraine's D-Day. Just like those armies went ashore in Normandy, all the weapons are now finally arriving in Ukraine. And if we keep helping Ukraine, they will defeat the dictator.
But then voters across the free world begin to vote for leaders who do not care.
@randahl Are we sure that there wasn't a significant group of people supportive of the idea of negotiations with Hitler in 1944? I wouldn't be shocked if that's the case.
@anderspuck I am sure each time period has had its fair share of appeasers. But my point is, the allies managed to stick to the mission until victory.
Thankfully, Churchill and Roosevelt were not replaced by populists midway, but had that happened, you and I could have been writing these posts in a different language, mein Herr.

@randahl While my father and his friends risked their lives for freedom in Europe and the Pacific, Trump's father and similar venal shitheads worked to take control of the economy. No voting required.
