that's the big question. companies have their own websites and email servers. they've seen how these companies can change hands. or change the rules to control their followers' access to their work. everybody is figuring out that the profit incentive means they will always squeeze us further if they can get away with it.

Right now, people are moving from one or two corporate social media sites to another. It just so happens that the "other" they're moving to, is mastodon.social and for some reason, people don't see Mastodon Gmbh as a company...😬
I do hope it changes at some point and we see a time where Mastodon.social doesn't control a massive amount of people. However, that day is not today.
