On Thursday July 11, Trump will receive his sentence for being the criminal mastermind behind the crimes, for which his henchman Michael Cohen served three years in prison.
Four days later, on July 15, is the Republican National Convention, where they will nominate Trump as the Republican presidential candidate.
If Joe Biden is replaced by another candiated then Trump will start the narrative it is a sticth up regardless, if he gets put in Prison, then the GOP will need to choose a different candidate. Both sides will then be equal in that respect and can't accuse each other of trying to fix something by changing their candidate for leader.

Total mess in US politics, total mess in France's politics, total mess in UK's politics, AfD gaining members, total mess in the Red Sea and so one...
Putin is certainly lapping it up and can congratulate his influencers and remote-controlled agents in those countries: they did a fine job!
@mariedocet as much as I am skeptical of Denmark’s prime minister, I must give her, she has completely ruined the far right influence by creating a center left + center right coalition. May more parliamentarians get that idea.
@randahl
That's exactly what French politicians missed to do, first two two years ago, and again three weeks ago.
I still didn't get over the fact that "Place Publique" accepted to ally with LFI after all the awful things Mélenchon had just said about Glucksmann during the campaign for the European elections of last months...
@randahl
Bracing for a tumultuous month on the political battleground. Let the fireworks begin. But most unsettling may be the outcome of last week's presidential debate. Based on upcoming polls and pressure for President Biden to drop out of race, distressing atmosphere.
@randahl The big question being, is there any rule against a president being in service while serving a jail sentence? Because trust me, the GOP will bend itself backwards to let it happen
