There is a big difference between a person who wants to spend time with you and a person who wants you to spend time with them.

@zoomar in the beginning of the pandemic Jessica Wildfire wrote a great essay called “It’s OK if you don’t want to hang out.”

It was great she talked about how people who don’t even like us will pressure us into spending time with them. It’s bizarre, and we don’t have to do it. I don’t, but I have an energy limiting chronic illness so I don’t spend time with lots of people.

@maggiejk when in my twenties I started noticing how many people I knew, spent time with people they did not like, for the sole reason that they were family.

I stopped.
