@GottaLaff Yet again the party of selfishness, criminality and joy in inflicting pain is not surprising us with a show true to form by lacking decency, honesty and fair dealing.
@GottaLaff This is so funny... Weren't they the ones who wanted this proposal to pass? And in a single tweet by the "The Big Orange Goof (Trump)" it all goes to hell...
@customer228 Yes, that's what my toot said, "demanded from Dems." And yes, Trump demanded they back off. And yes, Biden should make ad after ad on this.

Senate Republicans just voted against securing our border, combating human trafficking, cracking down on fentanyl, and delivering the support our Border Patrol agents need.
They don't want real solutions, they just want to help Donald Trump's presidential campaign.
In their minds, this also resets the center point for what they'll demand in future 'negotiations.' It was a Lucy move with the football.
I'm fairly sure they're gloating over this, just as we're gloating over the Mayorkas vote. The upside is that now Dems own the high ground on immigration, and can hammer the Rs with that. With the issues that politicians can actually affect, I think the deficit is the only thing that the Republicans can realistically attack, now. That's not to say they won't continue to be thoroughly unrealistic.
@GottaLaff last good shot at immigration reform in our lifetimes, unless the Dems sweep.
Sad.
It was a huge compromise on many fronts.
They won't get close again. The Repubs won't touch the subject, just like they did in 2016-2018, because it's only an election issue and they are far too fractured to agree on anything.
@GottaLaff
They should have put the Dreamers amnesty in and then they may have gotten the rest of the Dems' votes. Still wouldn't have been 60 though. That fillibuster really has to go. Thanks for nothing ManchinSinema. I hate them. 🤬
@GottaLaff we really need to start pushing to end the filibuster. Or At the very least bring back the talking filibuster. The Dem view on this issue has been very frustrating. No one in the party even talks about. Why are we accepting that the Senate needs 60 votes to pass anything? That’s not how it’s supposed to work.
@GottaLaff@JustG it’s just so infuriating watching the Dems flail around helplessly like a turtle stuck on its back when they do have options. It’s the self-inflicted helplessness that is most concerning.
@GottaLaff@JustG and I understand that they don’t want to rip the bandaid off and just eliminate it, but i was really hopeful for a short time in 2021 that the Dems might start carving out exceptions to it like if it expands healthcare or voting rights or involves national security. Or at least start a discussion on bringing back the talking filibuster. But it’s just crickets. From the entire party, progressive pundits, the media. Sorry for the rant.
