Northern Bobwhite Quail. We hear their whistled "bob-WHITE" near the house every day in summer. Rarely do we see the birds.

This morning, this guy was in the yard underneath the sycamore tree.

A pigeon-sized poultry-like bird in the grass between small leafy branches from the sycamore tree (brought down by the storm the other night). The bird is has a dark head with a broad white eye stripe that extends down the neck. The body is mottled gray and brown.
