@RickiTarr I do use the internet to escape reality, and there's nothing wrong with that. I also use books, films, tv shows, and games.
But I can't help thinking that those who say the internet isn't real simply haven't explored the right places. For example: just yesterday, thanks to fedi friends, I learnt about the crisis in Kenya from people who are right there, on the ground, as it was happening. There's no way that could happen without social media.
@RolloTreadway I have a friend who always tells me how horrible social media is for LGBTQ+, Furry, Ace Aro, real nerds, ect, and I'm always like, Brother, I know a place lol
@RickiTarr The funny thing is, I know more about the world from escaping into social media than I ever did from escaping into "socially acceptable" media. I vote at all levels now. I care about all levels now. I see the pain others are enduring now. Before I would have to seek out media to inform myself of these things. Now it finds me.
