While some companies move their business to The Cayman Islands to avoid taxes, Danish medical company Novo Nordisk decides to give USD 1.430.000.000 to Danish nature reconstruction projects contributing to an increase in biodiversity.

Farms take up 60 percent of Denmark's geography, and large areas will now be bought to create high quality nature reserves.

@randahl It's wild that a full 1/4th of the budget for turning farms into forest comes from a private actor like this.

@geewee globalisation created companies orders of magnitude bigger than we used to have.

@randahl
Do they also pay taxes?

Gifts are wonderful, but unsustainable.

@taatm Novo Nordisk payed USD 2.11 billion in taxes to Denmark in 2023. They are certainly a considerable contributor to the state budget.

DK seems to be far more sensible than NL in this matter.

Compared to NL, DK nitrogen deposition is quite low. Here it is thru the roof but since we almost have a far right cabinet not a lot will be done about it (unless the EU steps in and cuts subsidies)...
