@jerry “I haven’t practiced yoga, well, not since the accident. I took one look at the remains and swore I’d never take another student again. You don’t come back from that.. the screams.. the mass of twisted limbs… no, no, I’ll never get over what happened at Macho Grande.. I’m sorry but you’ll have to find another teacher if you want to play that wicked game, I won’t cast those dice again with human lives on the line”
@jerry there’s a common spam call in the UK pretending to be car insurance, always opening “we’re calling about your recent accident”. I always respond “it wasn’t an accident, they deserved it!”
While it's certainly entertaining isn't it a problem to answer to spammers? They now know that your number is valid and someone reads their messages.
@jerry My wife gets these, seeming to lead to opportunities in work doing bogus product or restaurant reviews. They stop answering when she asks them about scam reviews.
@jerry Back in my youth day, I loved to pick up any ringing phone and shout „Catholic horse cemetery Eckernförde - Emergency Room, how can I help you?“
@jerry Yeah, lately it has been "Where are you, you were supposed to be here an hour ago." I love the layer of guilt-tripping added in. I don't get the bitcoin scams. Maybe I've been a bit harsh on cryptocurrencies?
@jerry I used to like messing with them too, it felt like I was getting back at them for trying to scam me. Then I watched a John Oliver episode about how a lot of people sending the messages are being kept against their will and forced to send tons of these scams every day and i cannot bring myself to anymore
@jerry I get tons of these. It might be fun to mess with them, but in many cases the people on the other end have been trafficked by criminal syndicates and are forced to scam against their will.
@jerry I had someone try the car wrap scam on me a year or so ago. I played them for quite a while. They sent me cashiers checks to “my apartment” (Wrigley Field) and then I said send it to “my work” (FBI field office in Chicago).
Then I said I got it but had to drive to Windsor Canada to deposit it. They texted me throughout my “drive” across the border.
