As well as replies, are three ways to interact with a post on Mastodon:

⭐ Favouriting - This lets the post's creator know you enjoyed their post. It's the equivalent of a like.

🔁 Boosting - This shares the post with everyone who follows you, and adds the post to your profile's timeline. It's the equivalent of a re-tweet.

🔖 Bookmarks - This adds the post to your private bookmarks list, without telling anyone you've done this.

Yes there is! You can mention a person in the post and set the post's visibility to "mentions only". This effectively turns the post into a private message.

I think the likes are still shown to the creator on Twitter/X? They've hidden them from other people though.

@FediTips For all the complaints that favouriting doesn't "do anything". I still use it alot. I like something, I'm going to let the poster know.

@FediTips Do you have any tips how to effecrively manage the bookmarks in- or outside Mastodon?

I tend to bookmarking a lot, so I often lost count and overview. While using the web app on a desktop device it is easy to just use the browsers bookmark function, but this is not optimal and does not work well on mobile phones. @askfedi

The bookmarks built into Mastodon are fairly simple, there are no folders or anything like that.. I'm not sure what to suggest other than browser bookmarks?

However, there are search operators you can use to search within your bookmarks and favourites. If you include "in:library" in a search, this will search amongst all the posts you have interacted with including bookmarks and favourites. @FediTips Thank you. 🙂 Maybe the combination of the builtin search operators for the bookmarked toots within Mastodon and tagged bookmarks within browsers will do for the moment. I will play around.
