I'm so sick of "big men" enamored of the trappings of power & anyone impressed with them. I'm sick of the mystique of "all he had to do was wave a finger & you were dead" & that is supposed to be impressive rather than terrifying & childish. I'm sick of their entourages, and the way they stick out their lips, pout, posture, bluster. The way they use other people as decorations.

They way they lie to your face as a power play.

It's all... so embarrassing for the human animal of which I am one.

Like male pigeons strutting and hooting.

The black cars, the wide men in dark glasses, the grills and gold, or matching red ties. It's this very old, almost biological pattern of projecting power. And it embarrasses me.

@futurebird say what you will about the strutting pigeon, it at least pushes its feathers through the dirt when it boisters

@futurebird Yours is a very profound, poignant and courageous comment for sure. If we could perpetuate your words, stand by those words, add to/take away from those words and then use those words against them through literature and action, I truly believe we could marginalise those groups and eventually create a new culture that would not desire to act in such a nonsensical way and demean those who tried to bring it back into existence. Please keep resisting!

@futurebird The "anyone impressed with them" part really broke my already limited capacity to have human relationships. Too many people I lost all trust in...

@futurebird All that. And kinda related, I'm embarrassed by every single person driving an SUV or a giant pick-up truck. Yes, we all see how much you define yourself by driving around a big ass car. Pathetic.

@futurebird THIS.

@futurebird I figure there will always be maladjusted people who crave power and attention. What disturbs me far more is that we give it to them, instead of embarrassed silence, or referrals to psychiatric services.

@MichaelPorter

long awkward silence
"uh well. You know, I hate to kink-shame and I recognize fantasies about dominating others can have a healthy outlet... but I do think if it starts to invade your life too often it might be the sign of some deficiency... some other needs going unmet or discussed? You should talk about this with your therapist."

@futurebird 👍🏻
That, and “Why are you voting for/giving money to the guy who is actively trying to make your life worse? Have you talked to anyone about these feelings of self hatred?”

@futurebird Those who want power enough to work for it are by default unqualified to wield it. That said Jon Stewart 2024

@futurebird Only children and monsters crave such power.

@futurebird Well said.
