I certainly have had enough of some people claiming that we must cower to Putin, because he has nuclear weapons. And I am glad to see, I am not alone.
In a debate show on Danish national tv, foreign editor of Danish newspaper Weekendavisen, Anna Libak replied to yet another “But Putin’s has nuclear weapons!” by saying, “If Hitler had nuclear weapons, would we have given him France?”
Bingo! Of course we would not. And neither should Putin have Ukraine.
@randahl I, uh, don't know if you remember the events of 1940, but even without nuclear weapons, we kinda did just give Hitler France. And Czechoslovakia, and half of Poland.
It turns out you don't even need nuclear weapons. It's a strategy as simple as "stay out of this, or you're next". And it can be halted by a simple word: "no".
@kevinrj@randahl In fact, I think this nuclear weapons threat has caused the world to be somewhat insulated from the idea that war is really serious business. I think its long past time for the good guys to do something serious to support Ukrain at this point going far beyond just sending stuff.
@kevinrj@randahl I'm confident that at least one person somewhere in the Kremlin might have enough balls to stop Putin if he really did try to launch a nuclear strike, as there's bound to be at least one rational person there who would understand doing so could mean the end of the world.
@randahl as a Ukrainian what makes my blood boil is the fact that Russia, US, and UK signed a Budapest memorandum to provide protection in case Ukraine is attacked in exchange for Ukrainian nuclear disarmament. I guess they forgot to stipulate that the aggression could come from one of them. So that's a loophole the US is now exploiting to hold up aid in the MAGA Congress...
@randahl If Hitler was the only one who had enough nukes back then, he simply would have used them, won the war, and that's it.
Klaus Fuchs and others gave secrets how to develop nukes to the Soviet Union, because there were plans that when the US had enough nukes, they would have eradicated Russia. Just another Nazi plan that the US was almost ready to fulfill, and which had to be stopped.
@randahl The very threat of using them is an admission of weak positioning. Let his people know, and let them end this murderous tsar-centric-fantasy.
They aren't stupid. They're consistently misinformed on the practical ability to maintain this very expensive farse. Whoever is funding it, may be in a different country or govt. or area, but they're just using this to test the waters, because they know what is coming because of the worldwide impending issues due to the oil industry. -->
@randahl Yeah, it's a great way to encourage every nation to get armed with nuclear weapons. Hardly meets the goals of non proliferation if 'yeah well they have nukes tho' makes every nation with them immune from consequences.
Interesting that "political commentators" like you @randahl are trying to escalate nuclear war in support of nazis battalions like #Azov, #Centuria & #Tornado. Those #fascists still salute #StepanBandera with their right hand raised like the German #nazis did.
I hope you don't mind if your hometown gets the first strike. It won't take long for the rest of the world to enjoy snowboard rides in the nuclear winter.
@randahl This is, of course, assuming Putin's nuclear weapons work.
For decades, people feared his army. Then we learned he was a paper tiger... his weapons were out dated... essentially his dick energy was as short as he is.
@billOfEarth42
Iran just got at least five missiles through the combined Israeli and American defences, and they were told of the time the strike was coming something like a day in advance.
@randahl It might be worth noting that if #Putin really wanted to use his nukes, he has had a more than adequate amount of time and number of excuses to set them off.
