@aoife OMG what were they thinking. Could have chosen literally any other name for their project and I would have been more sympathetic.

@other_ghosts I'm not even sympathetic with a different name. If I have someone coming up to me trying to met me to participate more than my overwhelmed-in-crowds autistic ass already is by being there, I'm probably having a panic attack and going home.

@aoife @other_ghosts Yup, under any other name they'd still be ticketing people for not having the kind of fun they recognize. A really politically backwards form of activism.

@rejinl @aoife Yeah, I don't endorse that kind of intervention, basically harassment. I do think repressive dance laws, which are most likely to be used to target Black, Brown, and/or queer folks, should be abolished. But I agree this is a misguided effort. Also, it sort of presumes that the people not having enough fun are the problem, where actually the law is the problem.

@rejinl @aoife I also hate audience participation, just to give you an idea of the kind of wet rag I am.

@other_ghosts @aoife I'm right there with you! I often vacation at a place that encourages sing alongs. When someone breaks out an acoustic guitar I can't disappear quickly enough. Listening isn't good enough, it's their mission to make everyone sing.
