Barge hits a bridge in Galveston, Texas, damaging the structure and causing an oil spill
“A barge hit a bridge in Galveston, #Texas, on Wednesday, spilling oil into surrounding waters and closing the only road to a small island, officials said.”
You'd think after all the time developing it - with the island carrying a value of $74-million, as of a 2017 outline for a new bridge proposal - and the resources spent turning it from a sand-dollar bar to a big frickin' island, Texas would've been embarrassed to have the last bridge of its kind in the nation still the only access to the place.
Barbed wire budget must've been too big the last 40 years.
