When Phil Spencer took over Xbox, he sold himself as a fellow gamer to win player support. He used that vibe to convince them industry consolidation would benefit everyone.

But now we’re seeing the real costs: layoffs, closures, and fewer games. Spencer was always serving the company.

@parismarx Xbox business was in demise and waiting in line to thrown out to the lions/shareholders, then into the MS graveyard when Spencer arrived.

I won’t say he is a hero, and while I agree he’s another wolf in suits, Xbox would have long gone without him.

And some gamers thought MS buying Activision would make gaming BETTER. Because they liked the faux persona Spencer puts on versus Bobby Kotick not giving AF if people knew he was a douchebag.

That was always laughable, but hopefully those people understand how they were suckered now.
