"Keep this quote in mind from Dr. Martin Luther King’s critically important book 'Why We Can’t Wait' about the essential, urgent and imperative nature of socially conscious protest movements :

'Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.'

Maybe it is the rest of us who should re-examine our approach and listen to what the students are saying."

@wdlindsy The right to protest is SPECIFICALLY ENSHRINED in the Constitution for a reason. The Founding Fathers deemed it the first amendment to the Constitution as an expression of the importance they ascribed to it. Having lived under a monarch's authority, they specifically rejected it and held that the right to assemble peacefully and petition government for redress of wrongs was crucial to a free society.
