Delphia , in Romney says Trump Nato comments make ‘friends wonder if they can rely on America’

Im Australian and we had the conversation at work today that China is predictably evil whereas America wakes up every morning and spins a roulette wheel for their D&D alignment and then another for what drug they are going to do today.

"TODAY ITS.... CHAOTIC NEUTRAL AND BIKER METH!"

PrinceWith999Enemies ,

Yeah, we’ve kind of lost the narrative here. We should probably bring in a team of consultants to help us refocus on our core competencies and align our efforts better as a team.

I’m afraid that’s going to mean laying off a lot of republicans, but we need to become more efficient at delivering real value, and I’m sure they’ll understand.

SinningStromgald , in GOP senators defy Trump by advancing foreign aid bill

GOO people in government doing their job? Certainly wasn't on my bingo card. Shit!

Potatos_are_not_friends , in New Jan. 6 footage appears to show rioter firing a gun in the air during Capitol attack

Nah just typical peaceful tourist shit.

Y'all saying you don't go visit a place and then fire a gun in the sky out of excitement?

Yea the guy was just having a Yosemite Sam moment. Must have seen a varmint.

pudcollar , in 'Shocking': Hillary Clinton surprised at ease of GOP capitulation to 'puppeteer' Trump

Trump's got a knack for surprising Hillary, like that time she supported Trump in the Republican primaries because she thought he would be easier to beat.

ClopClopMcFuckwad , in The failed political operation to make DeSantis the GOP presidential nominee cost $168 million
@ClopClopMcFuckwad@lemmy.world avatar

Imagine the schools or homeless shelters that could have used 168million.

SatanicNotMessianic ,

At least the money was basically set on fire rather than going to Trump’s legal fees slash campaign fund.

nucleative , in Trump Spent $50 Million in Donor Money on Legal Bills Last Year.

So it's costing over $4m a month to keep him out of jail. If you imagine his attorneys are charging him $500 an hour that's still like 50 full time attorneys who are dedicated to his problems.

The article says that while normally using donor's money to pay your legal bills makes people stop donating, it's not happening as his people are still giving.

This IS his grift. He sells the image of a guy who can say and do anything he wants and they pay him for it, because they wish they were like him.

He doesn't need that money for his campaign because this IS his campaign.

Fixbeat , in Texas attorney general requests transgender youths’ patient records from Georgia clinic

Seems like it's time to get rid of state's rights since certain states are abusing citizens.

reddig33 , in Haley Did New Hampshire Right. New Hampshire Didn't Care.

Did they not care? She got a huge chunk of the primary vote. I don’t think you’ll ever convince Trump supporters to vote for anyone else. It’s a cult. She managed to make a decent dent.

TropicalDingdong , in Trump issues ominous threats of ‘investigations’ against Haley if she stays in race

I dont think he makes it through the primaries, but because they're actually having them, they'll have a candidate. He's gone from 'kinda' incoherent, to like, 'wow' incoherent in 6 weeks.

Not sure Biden makes it through either, but Democrats arent' really having a primary. Not sure what happens if he, you know, 🪣 🛴

thesporkeffect ,

There is no chance he loses the primary anywhere he is on the ballot. The only way I can imagine he isn't the Republican candidate is if enough R party officials choose country over party.

So, it's been nice chatting with everyone on here.

This would have made more sense: 🪣🦵

TropicalDingdong ,

Bucket razor scooter

I woke up to see this and I'm dying.

I meant 'kick the bucket', but the first emoji that comes up for kick is a 'kick scooter'

taiyang ,

Modern medicine the way it is, I don't think either will bucket scooter off to death. And Trump probably can run from jail. That said, I do wonder what the contingency plan would be if either of both died before the general election. Has that ever historically happened?

I mean having a primary where you have meaningful debates and multiple candidates would be the contingency plan.

taiyang ,

Even if the general were like, a week after they both died in a freakish accident? I guess they can always post pone the general though. I'm not sure who would have to make the call or if there are rules in place for DNC or GOP

TropicalDingdong ,

I mean, these fuckers are old.

Like way fucking old.

There is a significant non-zero probability that any given week of theirs, is there last week.

I mean how many years do we think either of these two has left?

2? 3? and it doesn't have to be 🛴🪣 , just total mental or physical degradation.

So what they've got maybe 100, 200 weeks ahead of them max? Assuming a uniform probability distribution, that's a charitable 0.25% per week (and I do not believe its a uniform distribution), 40 weeks till the election, call it a %0.25 for either of them individually to kick the bucket: I get 18.14% probability that either one of the two 🛴🪣 in the next 40 weeks. Like its not crazy, they are old af.

I'm sure a student of geriatrics could get us some more informed priors, but I bet thats in the ball park.

Varyk , in Is the Nickname ‘Donald Rapist Trump’ Defamatory?

Nope, them's the facts

RagingRobot , in Chicago banned unannounced migrant drop-offs. Now this Texas charter bus company is suing over the restrictions

All they need to do is call ahead. It's not that hard. Talk to your colleagues in other states! How do these people call themselves leaders. That term has lost all meaning recently

CultHero , in Donald Trump, Who Attempted A Coup To Hold Onto Power, Comfortably Wins Iowa Caucuses

I've lost all respect for amerikkka. It's ruined everything when it comes to social media and is the reason the rest of us can't have nice things. I've been searching for new social spaces online becasue all the main ones are toxic piles of shit now.

Not everyone online is american, not everyone online hates who you hate. Some of us are just disabled and want to have pleasant conversations with people. We're not allowed to do that anymore.

cabron_offsets , in 15 states mostly led by Republicans refuse federal funds to feed hungry children during the summer months

jordanlund , in Trump is already accusing his 2024 rivals of cheating
@jordanlund@lemmy.world avatar

Well... Monday IS a caucus and caucuses are rife with all kinds of problems and hijinks:

Stories like this are why people want all primaries.

downpunxx , in House Democrats launch investigation into Trump’s alleged offers to oil executives
@downpunxx@fedia.io avatar

Smart. Even if there's nothing the Government and Democrats can legally do to stop these individuals and oil corporations from donating to Trumps re-election, within egregiously corrupt and simple ways currently allowed by the "corporations are people my friend" laws, it's a shot across the bow some might think twice about before propping up the Orange Hitler.

GenosseFlosse ,

I think the opposite will happen. People in power will read it to see who they can bribe, what it will cost and how much they can get.
