High skilled jobs will just start using AI as a tool to automate routine (or have already started, in some cases). The most efficient use of AIs we have now is to pair it with a human, anyway
The worry is focused on the amount of damage that is likely to be done by the people in decision-making positions thinking they can save money by removing more paid positions.
Should note that a lot of the Microsoft Recall project revolves around capturing human interactions on the computer in real time continuously, with the hope of training a GPT-5 model that can do basic office tasks automagically.
Will it work? To some degree, maybe. It'll definitely spit out some convincing looking gibberish.
But the promise is to increasingly automate away office and professional labor.
The problem with humans reviewing AI output is that humans are pretty shit at QA. Our brains are literally built to ignore small mistakes. Digging through the output of an AI that's right 95% of the time is nightmare fuel for human brains. If your task needs more accuracy, it's probably better to just have the human do it all, rather than try to review it.
The Confederacy seceded to protect their right to own slaves, and soldiers on the side of the Confederacy killed and died to protect their right to own slaves.
Not the kind of people we should be honoring by building statues and naming schools for them.
Robert E Lee was the Supreme commanding General of the Confederacy, which seceeded from the United States out of fear that Lincoln and his new, progressive Republican party (times have obviously changed) would outlaw slavery.
The resulting Civil War was by far the deadliest conflict the US has ever been in in terms of US casualties. But the bonus is that since the war over slavery had started anyway, we went ahead and outlawed most slavery while we were at it.
Anyway, a lot of states, especially in the South kept discriminatory laws on the books following the war. As the Civil Rights movements of the 50s and 60s approached, a lot of Southern cities and states started building monuments and dedicating government buildings and parks to Confederate "heroes" and leaders.
They romanticized the Confederacy as a major part of Southern heritage (even though it lasted less than 5 years), and rewrote the history taught in schools to teach that the war wasn't about slavery, but about the federal government trampling on states rights.
And it worked. Millions of people are brainwashed into thinking that the rebel flag is a racist symbol, but a symbol of individualism and freedom. They tricked generations of Southerners into thinking they aren't racist.
Robert E. Lee, and several of his commanding generals, specifically said that no one should ever commemorate their names or visages. That means no statues, or places named for them. They recognized that they were traitors.
Woodrow Wilson didn't give a fuck about dead men's wishes.
So how do I get an Idea to the Helldivers devs? They did the grenade pistol, what about an derringer with an AC-8 round. Better ve wearing explosive res armor
So like for the people saying that the bear is so dangerous, has it occurred to them that "being with a bear in the woods" is just called being in the woods? Like that's where the bears are, just avoid going near them and you'll be fine, they're not going to like seek you out.
That's kind of my reasoning for thinking this whole bear thing is out of proportion. I grew up knowing how to deal with bears. If you're talking black bear you make a bunch of scary confusing noise and look big or... If you are already noisy they just steer clear and leave you the fuck alone. You gotta be pretty deep woods to encounter Grizzlies and most of the time they are chill. If they aren't, play dead or go up a tree.
I don't care if all a rando person, male, female non-binary whatever - does is try and strike up a conversation, I don't go to the woods to socialize. Act like a proper bear and gimme my gorram space!
