OK this is genuinely hilarious, but not actually correct. I was shocked to learn just last year that the months aren't numbered wrong because of the addition of July and August. Those are just renamings of Quintilis and Sextilis. It was in fact the addition of January and February, which one Wikipedia page says was done "by Numa Pompilius about 713 BC".
