Men who shave...

How often do you shave? How long does it take you? How do you do it?

Just curious as it feels like a chore for me. I usually do a with the grain shave with a safety razor and no product since I don’t have a lot of time and that gives the least irritation, but it’s not a close shave. I see guys that get stupid close shaves and I often wonder how much time they spend on it.

Once a week cause I'm lazy

Daily, Henson safety and just soap, no mirror, like they taught us in basic (albeit there it was "bic, dry"). Exceptions are when I'm sick because fuck that.

Used to have red in my beard. Apparently a lot.

Every day in the shower with soap and a three blade razor with the grain, I'd guess it takes two minutes, the main thing is to do it closer to the end of the shower and be running hot water over my face to soften it up beforehand.

Ok it's a fun story for me.

I can't grow a full beard. Literally and physically can't. My beard are thin, pointy, hard, can't grow pass 1/4 inch, it's embarrassing.

So in my late teen, I thought: "If I can't grow a beard like a man, then I'll shave like a man".

So I decided to learn to use straight razor. And oh boy, I have no idea how fun it could be. And the beginning of a new hobby/obsession. Watching YT tutorial, asking a real barber for advices, finding the best razors, shaving cream, etc .....

Took me 2 weeks to practice just shaving 1 straight line on both cheeks, 1 more week to add another line under the chin. It took 3 months before I can confidently shave my entire face. I got a few minor cuts, but the thing is the razor is super sharp so the cut is tiny and super clean and could be healed within the day. It gives the cleanest shave I've ever had, no electric shaver can even comes close. My face feel like a baby's ass.

Now I look forward to every morning to shave. I have a spare razor on my desk to hold and familiarize my hand with it while watching something on the PC. Even do some light dry shave, because the feeling is so addictive.

I shaved every other day, in the shower with a steamproof mirror. It's fast and no cleanup. Every day destroyed my face, and that second day bit of stubble looked good.

Now though, close trimmed beard 100% no question. Just shave my neck and make a few quick passes with the trimmer and I'm golden.

I keep a beard but shape it and shave my neck daily. It takes around 3 or 4 minutes.

I have a safety razor and foamy shaving cream. I slather it on the places that I want to shave then go against the grain.

I stopped shaving my face, and grew a beard. Trying to shave is always bad because I end up with bad razor burn. But I did find that removing those stupid glide strips helped reduce some razor burn.

For my head, I use a Freebird head shaver (the one with 5 heads). I should shave it every day, as it would make life easier. But, I end up doing it every few weeks. Instead of only using my head shaver for 5-minutes, I have to first use my Wahl clippers to get the “long” hair cut short enough for the shaver. This takes up to 30-45 minutes, and I still get razor burn. 😔 FML

I shave my neck and my checks around my beard. I do it in the shower with a shaving cream and a safety razor. It takes less than a minute.

I worked with a complete asshole who would go out of his way to be a huge dick to me. If there was a weakness, he'd exploit it.

One day, he privately pulled me aside and touched my neck and cheek area, said, "You should shave here and here. Tighten it up. Makes you look more presentable."

No joke. No mockery. Just a heads up from the biggest asshole I ever met. And he was right. That was twenty years ago, and I think about that every time I shave there.

I don't clean shave but I do shave a fair amount away. Usually every couple days. I use a DE razor, it's cheap and incredibly effective. It also produced the least irritation for me.

I usually shave most of it blind in the shower, then the shape/touch-up in the mirror after. Total, maybe 15 minutes. It goes pretty fast once you know what you're doing.

I seem to be lucky and get a clean shave in about 3 minutes, just hot towel on the face for a minute and then sweep using a 4 blade Gillette.

Maybe twice a week.

I shave when it gets itchy.

I shave about every third day and it takes me about 2 minutes. Mostly trying to pull the skin taut on my neck and get the annoying ones that stick in there and poke me.

Aggravationstation ,

I use a Braun series 9 on my head, at most every other day but often leave it for 3 or 4 days. I also use a safety razor with just hot water to cut a straight line at the top of my sideburns.

I've used a safety razor on both my head and face. I found the best way to get a really close shave was to tense the skin to get it as flat as possible in patches then shave that. Do a first pass with shaving butter and then go over it again with just hot water in slow long strokes until you feel your skin smoothen.

I have sensitive skin and the second pass would cause some irritation but using a good moisturiser (I use CeraVe) after helped a lot.

I shave once per week. I use a safety razor and no shaving cream while in the shower.
