Android phone saving metadata for screenshots ( i.ibb.co )

I always remove this data from my screenshots before sharing, but is there any way to prevent this from happening in the first place? I've searched and searched, but all I can find is information about how to remove the data after the fact, which I already know how to do, but it would sure be nice if it never got added in the...

zwekihoyy ,

I love when people post well known and obvious information. if you hadn't realized metadata is present then idk what to tell you.

zwekihoyy ,

to be fair you always could remove edge, it just legitimately broke a lot of windows apps

zwekihoyy ,

what do you think updates are for?? please stop spreading such terrible practices

zwekihoyy ,

you could have used winget or chocolatey as well.

zwekihoyy ,

ironically that's literally what x11 is made for.

I am genuinely horrified to see how much data google collected from me

I created a google takeout and in that zip file I found some files containing a ton of data about me. It has logged every single page I visited while using the google search engine and chrome browser. It even logged every single time I opened an app on my old android phone. It even has VOICE RECORDINGS of me and a log of every...

zwekihoyy ,

while, yes, regardless of your privacy settings google still collects a sickening amount of data on you, much of these things (like voice recordings and location history) can be managed and disabled in the settings. if you wish to go further, grapheneos removes A LOT of tracking potential.

these should be opt in features, but one can opt out of much of them.

zwekihoyy ,

well if you have play services installed then google is gonna get some data on you.

zwekihoyy ,

those were some bullshit bullet points lmao

zwekihoyy ,

one of the points is cia funding. they are bullshit

zwekihoyy ,

it is not more secure for the average user. sure it can be hardened to a great degree but that takes proper knowledge of the underlying architecture. for the average user's ootb experience, Linux is the least secure option.

zwekihoyy ,

open source exists elsewhere and security through obscurity is a terrible, strawman argument

zwekihoyy ,

the argument that Linux is less popular therefore less targeted is both misguided and a security through obscurity based argument. Linux is the most used server operating system and servers are targeted more than any individual and those server based malware often works on desktop versions as well.

zwekihoyy ,

windows sandbox is... getting there, macos is decent but iirc the app dev can choose to not use it. all Linux options require user intervention to ensure it's set up properly. ChromeOS' sandboxing technique is inherited from Android and is the strongest/strictest of any desktop operating system.

zwekihoyy ,

it was good when I used it but I switched to nextdns and have liked it a bit more. adguard is based in Russia (I trust the company but who knows what laws could come about) and nextdns has been way more performant for me.

note: nextdns is based in the US so you're not really winning there but I choose to trust them so far

zwekihoyy ,

you're gonna have to provide a source if you wanna spread FUD, chief.
