In what ways?

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

Thanks. Do you have an example of the super weird rendering? Also are none of what you’re saying here togglable in the WebKit Feature Flags to mess around with bleeding edge features?

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

I haven’t had problems. I would just like to be educated on what I’m missing out on.

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

What was that last or current feature you’re missing out on and what’s the use case?

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

Blocking is far better on the VPN routing level then bothering with a browser extension.

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

No, that defeats the entire point.

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

The point of me having my own control over my instance. The bad moderator thing will always be a problem.

When was the last time you purchased something at a vending machine?

I usually avoid them because of the mark-up, but yesterday I was in the mood for a soda and didn't feel like going into a store and interacting with the cashier, so I bought one out of a vending machine. I enjoyed it. What about you? When was the last time you used a vending machine, and what did you buy?

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

Used a cotton candy vending machine at the mall with my 4 year old not that long ago.

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

Nice, will definitely check it out. Haven’t watched since he left really.

Because you choose what you want for a community and that’s what they chose.

Lemmy logins

Hi all. New to lemmy just wondering if/when i close the browser or my phone restarts etc and i haven't logged out from that lemmy session do those logins accumulate like say Google fb reddit etc where i can be logged in multiple times and places? If so how do i find where to logout of all those sessions please? I didn't sign up...

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

There’s no feature like this currently. You could change your password or enable/disable 2FA and it may log you out of everywhere as a workaround.

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

Where are you seeing this? Might be a dbzer0 only thing.

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

Set your settings to share with nobody. Pretty sure this guy is whining just to whine.

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

Breath of fresh air comment here on Lemmy.

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

Give me a rundown on your setup and what you do.

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

They’ll only get notified if you @ notify them in a comment.

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

I disagree and think it’s fine how it is. I suppose if two want to link that would be fine but you might as well shut one down and move everyone over. People will always flock to whatever’s the more popular one. This could also flip with a competing community with better ideals/moderation/thoughts for engagement. I don’t see how lumping them all together really helps anything.

This definitely isn’t the biggest issue.

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

Why does the this ignorant speech infest so many threads? No one gives a shit and any keyboard warrior crap you’re doing in your free time isn’t going to change anything going on in the world.

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

You used a word salad of all the words the most anger ridden posts are filled with. That’s all I was pointing out.

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

I thought most of the modern browsers had this ability built in?

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

Interesting. I’d like to find what you’re looking for and compare what shows on mine.

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

Mobile safari even blocked more than this website found.

Standard three google ones and one for jsdelivr.net

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

The 3 ad trackers are also in that cookie count with jsdelivr. But no it does not break it down into separate sections.

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

Try newsbreak.com, that’s a shitshow.

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

https://thumbsnap.com has been my go to. It’s fast and allows direct linking.

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

It comes in waves. I don’t like the overly sensitive crap either though.

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

It’s built in to the latest releases. Scroll down to the bottom of your user settings and there’s a new import/export option.

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

On Lemmy, any Apple thread is mostly hatred towards them. Nerds even swarm in on the communities setup to talk about Apple products.

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

Standard shitty house building. Hammer some new nails in to get the creaking out. It’s what they’ll do at the 1 year fixer upper of issues you found out with your Arbor Homes (IN, OH, KY, sure there’s similar ones everywhere) type building company.

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

Spread the word to avoid them at all costs.

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

What are you wanting to protect? I think you should hold a bit of anonymity overall to where it doesn’t matter a whole lot. The thrill of these platforms are the more anonymous characters willing to share what’s on their mind without huge out-lash/cancelling in my opinion.

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

Going against that last part and diving into what’s really on your brain is what I’m saying sets these platforms apart. Aside from the typical bigotry spewing characters that come with it.

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

True, IRC probably birthed most of my feelings in this regard. Formed a tight knit community and learned a lot of personal stuff on there as well though.

What’s your absolute must needs? I’m on iOS but Voyager (android as well) has been my top choice for a while now even beating out apps I’ve paid lifetime subscriptions for because the developers disappeared or have been extremely quiet. I like Thunder a lot too. It’s missing key features I like in Voyager but I love its design and how smooth it is.

Logs are getting spammed with stacktraces "WARN Error encountered while processing the incoming HTTP request: lemmy_server::root_span_builder: Unknown:"

My lemmy-ui container is spiking cpu usage and looking into the logs the following shows up (900.000 lines in total). Any ideas what the issue could be? I'm on 0.19.1, everything seems to be working fine aside from the logs filling up and the usage piking sometimes....

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

Fast, clean, and right to the point. Looks like good company.

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

You’re typing as if what you’re presenting hasn’t been around forever already.

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

Nobody has bullied you or shown any hatred.

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

Maybe run a virtual machine and only do your work within that. On iOS you can virtualize almost every OS with UTM. I’m not familiar with it on android but guarantee it’s a possibility. Or create a Linux live usb… get a cloud pc. Seems like there’s tons of options.

Weird that two troll instances would be defederating from each other. Out trolled?

Creating a URL to host an image prior to publishing a post/comment seems like a security flaw

When using the web browser to draft a Lemmy post/comment that contains a direct image upload, the instance creates a self-hosted URL that publicly shows that image prior to the user deciding to publish that post/comment. This creates a liability in several ways:...

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

We know. This has been mentioned multiple times. I would assume it would be logged as an issue on the GitHub too but I haven’t looked. The Memmy comments are a whole separate issue though.
