Doing an edX course: Dartmouth's C Programming: Getting Started. It's part of a bigger course, C Programming with Linux, that I think will be great for me. I need some structured learning to get better. https://learning.edx.org/course/course-v1:Dartmouth_IMTx+DART.IMT.C.01+1T2020/home

I modified the bindings to use the scrolling button as mouse 3, but I don’t like it...

Anyone able to login on a snac instance with Oath in an app on a phone? I have tried 3 and they all just sit there after you put in your user name and password and press OK.

    The best icon set to ever be is buuf, you cannot change my mind. Try it, but you will fail. I've been using it since roughly ~2007. I've tried others, but none can compare to the brilliance that is mattahan's buuf icon set. 1st link is X11 icon sets, second link is the original artist's site. https://git.disroot.org/eudaimon/buuf-nestort http://www.mattahan.com/ It's really worth your time to try it. Everything is hand drawn, kind of feels like it's made of clay.

    Progress on talos 2 is a bit slow. We can boot now, make OPAL calls and pivot in to C. Next is figuring out how to bootstrap virtual memory. Lots of questions that need to get answered about this before I start mashing keys.

    dpaint(1) has undo. Also, I have the exact same issue with my x61t. I was thinking of trying to program the buttons on the screen as an undo. As it stands now, I keep it slightly open and have my non-drawing hand on the U key...

    thedaemon ,
    @thedaemon@hj.9fs.net avatar

    Well, looks like this is my other 9front project besides dpaint(1). I really want to make it viable to make lots of art in 9 easily.

    thedaemon ,
    @thedaemon@hj.9fs.net avatar

    spraypaint tool is coming after line tool probably, or before I dunno. 2 layers is the right amount, I was thinking of pages like grafx2 has. I personally never use text tools, so that I'll have to think about.

    @thedaemon@hj.9fs.net avatar

    Ahh in that case, VGA it is.

    sl: does the wacom work flawless on the x1yoga? I.E. tablet mode, and no weird lines?

    CC: @pixelkeen

    thedaemon ,
    @thedaemon@hj.9fs.net avatar

    And to be specific, it works in a tablet mode, absolute. Not mouse mode?

    CC: @pixelkeen

    thedaemon ,
    @thedaemon@hj.9fs.net avatar

    You are incorrect or don't understand my question. My x61t does not function as a mouse, it functions as a tablet. If I touch the pen down, the cursor goes there. If I lift it up, the cursor stays and if I put the corsor down on another spot, it teleports there. Mouse mode does not do that, it requires you to drag the mouse cursor around, ie relative.

    thedaemon ,
    @thedaemon@hj.9fs.net avatar

    Thanks, yeah I am not talking about the technical side of it being in "mouse mode" but the functional side of it. If you've ever used a Wacom on supported OS, it has relative or absolute mode. Mouse or Tablet mode. That is which I am referring. Because drawing in Mouse/Relative mode is not possible for me. I'm 100% ok with it being a mouse on the programming side of it. That's part will be useful when I try to debug the jumping lines! :) Thanks sl for all of the helpful information. I'll be sure to work on your dpaint requests in the coming months. :)

    thedaemon ,
    @thedaemon@hj.9fs.net avatar

    Hell yes, that's good to know Stan the man! I have a x230t that it doesn't work in 9front, but works in linux. It's weird. I am not sure what's going on with it. Very cool that the other models work that way. I'm going to have to buy and sell them and test them like you have been XD. Thanks again drawing buddy.

    Yeah I've added the serial lines in my plan9.ini and ran the aux/wacom ; aux/tablet and nothing. Ahh yeah I figured the x280 was usb and mine was serial.

    thedaemon ,
    @thedaemon@hj.9fs.net avatar

    I also found that and tried changing the options and didn't get one that worked. I'll dive into it more and try again.

    Hey classic Mac folks. I've decided that I'm going to use my new LC 475 as my main desktop. My @BlueSCSI just showed up and I'm getting the system recapped so it should be pretty reliable. I'm really looking forward to it! But, I was an Amiga/Linux kid and I don't know much about Macs. It'll be running system 7.5 and I need software recommendations. I need a:

    • Word processor
    • ANSI C compiler
    • Terminal with SSH
    • Text editor

    Thanks!

    Same Claudio, I always wanted an Amiga. A decade ago I bought an Amiga 4000. Which was not the one to get as an Amiga newbie! It was overwelming, next time I'll find a 500 or 1200 and try from there. I've mainly just emulated it though and NOT understood the OS at all.

    It was a heavily modified 4000d with a larger case and more drives and stuff that I didn't know about XD. I ended up shipping it to Poland. Mostly it was overwhelming because I didn't understand how to use it and it was not all working. You'll have a blast. Although I still don't understand the stuff like S: and things like that, probably a good idea to take it slow lol.

    I really hate the trend that is no longer written but the details are in video , especially in . I want to READ documentation, with graphics and explanation. On long pages with varying degrees of details. Not some obscure 50min video where I can find the missing piece of information in a single frame at minute 34.

    thedaemon ,
    @thedaemon@hj.9fs.net avatar

    Videos or Discord is the new "documentation" and I refute both as being useful!

    Qiuck question: usually the tiltscreen option is set in the plan9.ini in the 9fat partition. On the raspberry pi editing plan9.ini seems to have no effect, actually it appears to be generated at startup. Where can I set the tiltscreen option then?
