@hermes It’s occurred to me early in each thinking session that it needs to be centered on “life,” as opposed to the abstraction that “spirit” represents. Even though “spirit” is NOT an abstraction in the Hebrew or Chinese translations I might use, I still think the English term has to do that whole “embodiment” job, get it into the “biology” cluster of concepts, and also account for “consciousness”/“experience”/“subjectivity,” which fortunately science writers are beginning to do successfully.

@hermes See the thing is, I think that’s actually the most important part, and the problem with all the other English is that it makes people think it’s something they have to think about, rather than something that’s always happening to them

@nathanlovestrees @hermes That definitely lands for people who are already turned on, but I suspect that the problem for the rest of folks is that they don’t actually relate to being HUMAN in an animistic way, so they think you’re talking about something outside of them.
