iridescence intensifies

Two young pigeons rest and forage on a flat roof. The focus is on the background bird, a blue checked bird. They've started molting and growing their first set of adult feathers; brown juvenile feathers across their wings and back are replaced with fresh black and gray, while dull and fine neck feathers are replaced with thick iridescent ones. The foreground pigeon is blurry; they're a blue barred bird, previously shown.

    Today's new fledgling is pied. Look at those speckles!

    The fledgling pigeon walks away from the back of the roof in a 3/4 profile view, slightly toward the camera. Their head has patches of white feathers mixed in with overall gray. The tips of their neck and shield feathers are partially translucent with brownish/reddish tinting.

    Tested at home for Covid. Finally got it after four years avoiding it. I guess I’ll be alone at home awhile longer. Here’s a western gull from San Diego earlier this year.

    In 3DMAX, there is a "edit pivot" mode where you can move, rotate, align, etc... the pivot of an object to place it where you want.

    Is there something like that in #Blender ?

    @Ailantd In the top-right corner of the 3D Viewport, click the Options button and check "Origins" -- This will let you move the object's origin using translate, rotate and scale widgets and shortcuts. Snapping is supported.

    When you're done, go back and uncheck the option.

    If you need more precision, use the 3D cursor. Snap the cursor to a selection in Edit mode.

    Mesh > Snap > Cursor to selected

    Exit Edit mode back to Object mode.

    Object > Set Origin> Origin to 3D Cursor.

    This is the first fledgling I've seen this year. They're a tired baby.

    The tired fledgling from behind. Their juvenile feathers have additional marking around the edges and their iridescent neck feathers aren't as bright as adult feathers.
    One more view of the fledgling from the front. They still have some curly nestling fluff peeking from behind their new feathers.

    northern flicker sounds

    Hey, wait a minute...

    This bird has been around for a few days, and their repertoire of calls includes:

    Northern Mockingbird (of course)
    Northern Flicker
    American Robin
    Red-tailed Hawk
    Red-masked Parakeet
    California Scrub Jay
    Cedar Waxwing
    Steller's Jay
    Spotted Towhee
    Plus various gulls, finches, and sparrows

    Some of these were good enough for Merlin to misidentify the bird.
