…and I found my wallet now that replacement cards are on the way 💩

pejacoby ,
@pejacoby@infosec.exchange avatar

@jerry the third law of the lost wallet is “now use care when you decide which card to shred…keep the NEW one, lest you get to order again”

@jerry we had a dry cleaner named “99 cent cleaning” that over the period of a couple years changed to “$1.49 clean” and the “$1.99 clean” and then “$2.49 clean” and finally gave up and went to “We clean!”

The stationery and signage update costs must have been crippling….

Hey @futurebird what are these workers doing? Creating pods of something, looks like winged nymphs in some sort on the goop.

These are near my big in-ground colony which I have not yet disturbed. They do this every year on tree shoots coming off the root of a big elm.

A close up of any activity shows wings in the goop on the bright green stem and leaf

Update on my dad...

For background, my mid 70's parents drove from ATL to Michigan on Thursday to attend my neice's high school graduation. Friday morning, my dad wasn't feeling well and he kept feeling worse. After convincing himself that it wasn't just indigestion, he went to a local hospital ER. While there, he started developing intense pain in his chest. The ER docs hooked him up to an EKG and ran an enzyme test to see if he had a heart attack. They came back clean. But the pain was worsening. The doc administered some morphine, which apparently did nothing. They hooked him back up to the EKG and monitored him for a bit. While monitoring him, he had a heart attack.

The docs rushed him into surgery where he needed 3 stents to open up an artery that was 99% blocked.

He was moved out of ICU into a regular bed today and expects to be discharged tomorrow. He has to wear a defibrillator vest for the next 3 months, while he is assessed for futher treatments. My dad describes the vest as a "bra with metal pop-tarts all the way around his chest". I had a chance to talk to him today and he says that he feels better than he has in many years, other than the pop tart bra.

The doctor told him that the only real reason he was able to survive was that it happened while he was in the hospital. Apparently this sort of heart attack is not one that people commonly survive otherwise.

I am immensely grateful to the doctors, nurses, scientists, janitors, clerical staff, and so on, that gave me and my family the incredible gift of more time with my dad.

@jerry such a good outcome, thank goodness for the docs!

Gotta ask on the vest- frosted or plain?

@jerry ain’t science grand? Hopefully it’s fruit flavored or at least scented too.

All the best on a full recovery! ❤️‍🩹

So...I have a tall cupboard.

In this cupboard, on the top shelf is a huge bag of steel-cut oatmeal.

This morning I tried to access said oatmeal.

The bag split.

Now my whole kitchen has oatmeal.

My pockets have oatmeal.

My hair has oatmeal.

My cats have oatmeal.

Everything is oatmeal...

There is no god.

#Oatmeal #FML

@alice Have done same with a bag of ground pepper.

Now you get to sneeze

And you get to sneeze again

And again

And again

And the vacuum bag full of pepper?

Yep, that makes you sneeze... please discard…

I woke up this morning with the burning question on my mind:
What’s going on with that pan flute guy Zamfir I used to see selling his music on TV commercials back in the 70’s and 80’s.

I don’t know why my brain asks such questions, but I am happy to report he’s still around and apparently still performing concerts.

@jerry woke up with “Love to Watch Her Strut” from Bob Seger in my head. Haven’t heard it in at last 15 years.

Some days the burning questions just ARE. 🔥

Hey @futurebird hope you don’t mind an 🐜 question.

This ant hill has been in my plantings on my back hill for about 4 years. It’s probably 2 feet by 2 feet by a foot high. It is slowly growing, mostly dug into the ground. I don’t want to wreck it but is there a way to invite the ants to move along? Say to the neighbor’s yard?

It’s a crappy picture, as they get more active I can probably do better.
