I'm having a lot of fun with the #digitaleclipse reboot of Wizardry. (It takes me back to 1986 when my friend Rick and I spent months trying to beat the game.) But in the articles written about it, they mention a Commodore 64 version. I don't remember this at all. In fact, back in the day, I remember being jealous that I couldn't play Wizardry on my C64. Did it really exist? #commodore64

As a long-time gamer, I've always struggled to wrap my head around the role of gods in fantasy settings in which magic exists. Is their power derived from the same forces that govern magic? Are they the authors? Do they wield powers beyond those available to the magically inclined? Tell me friends, how do you handle it? #ttrpg

@SJohnRoss in a recent game, the "Builders" were creation gods-- aloof, uninterested in the machinations of mortalkind. They entrusted elves with the language of magic. The elves were tricked into sharing it with humans, violating their sacred covenant. As punishment, the Builders flooded the world and departed. No gods. The "faithful" pine (in vain) for their return.

Now watching Better Off Dead, which I haven't seen in years, because @vincew brought it up in a comment under my post about The Last Starfighter

@Tim_Eagon @vincew I watched this with my daughter two weeks ago. "Gee, I'm real sorry your Mom blew up, Ricky."

@Tim_Eagon @vincew and I will never not love Rupert Hine's "Arrested by You".

I don't know anyone who plays or has played Ars Magica. Do you? The mechanics sound interesting. #ttrpg

It's the impossible-to-find Easter eggs that make my life as a near-forever DM complete. In a recent #TalesfromtheLoop session, the map of "Emerson Middle School" I gave my players was, in fact, the actual floorplan of the school I attended 1983-1985-- John T. Baker Intermediate School in Damascus, Maryland. I didn't even tell them. It was an Easter egg for me and me alone! My games are RIDDLED with this kind of beautiful bullshit. Please tell me I'm not alone in this habit. Please? #ttrpg #genx

Ok #ttrpg GMs, here's the deal: I'm looking for a system-agnostic resource for creating a believable trade economy that's FUN to play. A mini-game even. The resource doesn't have to be stand-alone, it could be something I can port from another game. For space trading, fantasy spice trade, or whatever. Thoughts? (Please repost.) #rpg #gaming

I've been playing #Warhammer every other week (ish) for about 3 years. Good group of guys-- all aging GenX geeks but for one Millennial. Normally, to kick up the 80s vibe, we play vintage MTV footage in the background. But recently we decided to lean into the nostalgia: creating a bespoke mixtape (100% vinyl sourced) for each session. Totally stupid. We know this. But stupid (as all of you know) can be great fun. Here it is: Warhammered Volume 1. (My 13 year old daughter designed the insert.)

I'm breaking one of my game groups into Free League's Year Zero Engine with Tales from the Loop. So far so good. After that, I hope to go sci-fi. Any #Coriolis players out there? I'm worried that it lacks crunch. My players are more combat/ conflict oriented than theatrical roleplayers. (I've considered using one of the many versions of Traveller, too.)
