Question:

How can Fediverse be more "private" while also not ruining the experience for those who like things the way they are?

There's already a way to make your posts private so that there's no way for anyone to see them without your permission.**

Could there be another way without destroying discoverability?

I can't think of any, but I'm obviously not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Obviously Mastodon needs to start by removing the RSS feed or make it an option to turn off. As it stands, most people don't even know it's a thing because it's not documented.

Thoughts?

**Besides admins and moderators. They can see everything if they want to, including DMs.

The fact that there's no plans for moderation expansion is quite depressing.

I feel terrible for the Mastodon admins that feel they are stuck with this project and have to do "manual" moderation for thousands of users across 23,000 instances and hundreds of thousands of posts a day....🤦‍♂️

Well, it's official. Tooters.org has been offline for 4 days.😔

I hope one day to see Victor and Sandy again but unfortunately that's not likely in the slightest.

I DO wish they would have handled this whole thing better. There was a non-zero number of folks who lost their entire account and had to start over. Maybe there was also a non-zero number that decided to not continue on Fedi afterwards...😬

It was handled poorly in the end and that is regrettable. For awhile though, it was consistently one of the best run instances on the entirety of the Fediverse and thats admirable.

I know they'll never read this. But Victor and Sandy, it was good knowing you and I hope we can cross each other's paths again in the future.

We need to stigmatize centralized people farms like #LemmyWorld, #ShitJustWorks, #Lemmee, etc just like #AOL users were in the 90s. Make it clear that these accidental #Cloudflare supporters are made aware that they lack a nuanced understanding of the #fedi #decentralization concept. I have a domain I could park a Sharkey instance to migrate to, but if I make a new Sharkey instance on my current domain after I shut the Mastodon instance down, will I be able to migrate back with little issue?🤔

Ugh! So my state has outlawed a MASSIVE amount of nicotine vape products. That ban goes into effect tomorrow.

I am unfortunately addicted to said products and the alternatives are either worse for my health or just worse products.

Therefore, it leaves me no choice but to search for a source today so I can have a few weeks before having to go out of state.

It's raining so damn hard today. I don't want to even look outside, but the government has over reached again by choosing what I can and cannot put into my body🤬🖕

This has been a crash course on how to radicalize someone against the government.
