    i am not trans.
    i have many friends that are.
    they are the most precious, nice, warm,friendly, empathic people i know.
    detransition as well as transition are private agendas.
    one can talk about it and share opinions and experiences.

    if it is a rare phenomenon or not is irrelevant in my opinion.

    it is ones life and ones experience.
    there MIGHT be some clinical interest in collecting data on (de)transitions, but i do NOT want the politics to get involved based on these numbers.

    @alice yeah, if you are new to electronics i recommend getting something from adafruit.
    They have very good resources to get you started!
    Maybe a circuitpython board with an esp32 core.

    may i assume you are a linux person?
    i recommend starting with the
    mosquitto-clients package

    that gives you mqtt_sub and mqtt_pub

    mqtt is super simple.

    you have a server that is responsible for message queues.

    and you have subscribers/clients that get notified by the server when there is something new in the subscibed TOPIC

    a TOPIC looks like:

    pestering_device/led
    pestering_device/speaker

    you can post "ON" or "OFF" or actually anything to it
    1/..

    so when you post "ON" to pestering_device/led

    the esp32 connected to @catsalad's WLAN will get a notification and turn on the led.

    of course this is a very simple example, you can do a LOT MORE with this technology.

    now find an open MQTT server (like beehive)
    and start posting something to some topic you made up yourself.
    than use mqtt_sub to subscribe to that topic and get notifications once you send things to it.
    when this is working get your esp32 online and check out one of the many mqtt implementations. to to the subscription.

    MQTT is really cool for such a usecase as it is asynchronous and works even if @catsalad s wlan is offline..
