@plainreading @bookstodon benjamin's storyteller essays mind boggling and amazing scholarship. gonna find a way to argue his claim that no storytellers exist in novels past kipling to include maughams (thesis subject) as a storyteller

James, Percival Everett

@bookstodon just finished may tommorrow be awake by chris martin (no, not the guy from coldplay). an amazing look into nonspeaking autistic ways of thinking from a non pathologizing/fetishizing place--plus some amazing poetry from martin's students. he is a poetry teacher through a nonprofit he founded, called unrestricted interest (link is https://www.unrestrictedinterest.com/, they also have chapbooks of some of the students martin and other teachers have taught)

I've got some audiobook credits before I cancel my account (just not worth it when the is there 🥰). Could someone recommend some good audiobooks?

What I am looking for:
✔️Cozy mysteries or cozy horror
✔️If romance, nothing 🌶️ because I can't listen to sex scenes being narrated to me without giggling like a middle schooler.
✔️Female main character = bonus
✔️POC protagonist = bonus
✔️YA or New Adult recs okay

Thanks! 🙏🏽

Remembrance: Selected Correspondence of Ray Bradbury, 2023

Iconic author of Fahrenheit 451, The Martian Chronicles, and Something Wicked This Way Comes, Ray Bradbury believed that, someday, a collection of his letters could illuminate the story of his life in new ways. That story emerges across time and memory from the pages of Remembrance.

    From the Guardian...

“Are young people poised to slam the brake on endless economic growth?”

The terms degrowth and post-growth are used increasingly to popularise the idea that in the 21st century, capitalism is no longer the best allocator of scarce resources.

Proponents of post-growth policies say they are not a recipe for inaction, or a return to a horse-and-cart, pre-industrial age; rather they are a means of redirecting resources into investments that result in people living happier, more sustainable lives.

@bookstodon My of The Apothecary Diaries Vol. 2 by Natsu Hyuuga, Kevin Steinbach (trans.) and Touko Shino (illust.) is now live! This was enjoyable as the first volume, not least because the setting and mysteries expand.

After enjoying R.F. Kuang's Yellowface so much, I'm now reading Babel - which I got from the library. It's a 500+ page honker, and the library copy is a hardback so I can't exactly slip it in my pocket to carry around. It's definitely an at home read. Enjoying it so far.
