Even if these nightmare scenarios never play out, and I pray they never do, the damage has been done. The relationship between the President and the people he serves has shifted irrevocably. In every use of official power, the President is now a king above the law… “Orders the Navy’s Seal Team 6 to assassinate a political rival? Immune. Organizes a military coup to hold onto power?     It's been three years since I was able to get into the bed. I've been sleeping on the couch since, when I broke my leg our loft (which is very high up) became too hard to get up to for me.

    BUT. Ordered this functional step chest and soon there will be stairs and I'll get to go to bed again. I'm so excited.

    This took forever since I was stubborn about not "ruining" our book room with ugly stairs, but this will do.

    I was born more than 60 years ago. I had a relatively cool (aka, normal temperature) childhood and young adulthood. Even parts of my middle-age were relatively cool. We've abruptly entered HOT HELL in early 2000's. As I sit here in Ann Arbor, Michigan--just west of Detroit--we've been having unseasonably HOT days and nights, with highs above 90 degrees F.

    My sweet, newly adopted dog is recovering from her first treatment for heartworm. The treatment kicked her ass, but now it's 6 days after the first injection and she's feeling much better. She felt well enough to pose in front of the pretty posies for me.

    It’s not that expensive to have your own labels made to replace those in your clothes so you have your own secret bespoke brand.

    (it’s a remarkable how much this simple detail makes me happy.)

    @rbreich I keep seeing evidence—including in your articles—that U.S. democracy is on the precipice of failure. So much turmoil in the world, but the end of our democracy because there are too many Americans who would gladly trade that for a white Christian nationalist hyper-capitalist agenda would make everything that much worse.

    U.S. citizens: Vote for Biden (even though his actions regarding limitless support for Israel is unethical)—it will be so much worse under a trump presidency.

    People, please stop telling me how to write my threads.

    I number each toot and hashtag the first one and occasionally subsequent ones. All you have to do is click on a toot to see which thread it is.

    The reporters also name the judge and lawyers in each toot, so how hard is that to figure out?

    If you can’t follow my simultaneous threads, and think you can do better, try writing your own. Let me know how that works out.

    So far, feeling somewhat better, thank you all.

    Ok, what I have, most likely, is what’s called C-Diff. Look it up. It’s scary.

    I had to take antibiotics for some oral surgery 2+ wks ago + antibiotics to counter those antibiotics (which trigger C-Diff).

    It worked…until it didn’t.

    I got symptoms. Being tested to make sure. Yes, I’m miserable, but I luckily haven’t gotten a severe case.🤞🏼

    Weird: 1st case a few mos ago was not from antibiotics, no idea how I got it! Poss contact?🤷🏻‍♀️

    @GottaLaff I used to teach gastrointestinal physiology to first year medical students at UCLA. The attached slide was part of the evidence-based information I provided. Drinking a probiotic shake lowers diarrhea and C. diff levels in hospitalized patients on antibiotics compared to controls who drank a shake without probiotics. And I practice what I preach--I always eat yoghurt with Lactobacillus while taking antibiotics as a preventative measure.

    Two graphs of hospitalized patients on antibiotic treatment from a research paper by Hickson et al. (2007). This was a randomized, double-blind trial of 113 patients with an average age of 74 years. Those patients who drank a shake containing Lactobacillus twice a day had much lower incidence of diarrhea and lower levels of C. difficile in their feces than the control group who drank a sterile shake.
