Given 's obvious dementia there must be a lot of puppetry going on behind the scenes with him, too. If he gets reelected, I wonder who his Dick Cheney will be. shudder

- got my califone turntable fixed specifically so i could listen to records when it's too hot to listen to records in the space where i usually do, & here we are. ready to reacquaint myself with the monaural pleasures! the lovin' spoonful were basically invented for this. what amazing underrated & undervalued LPs. if they hadn't shot themselves in the feet by narcing, zal yanovsky could've been one of the great late '60s weirdos. @vinylrecords

I've been reading some history books about Europe in the middle ages. The matter of the education of kings is incredibly interesting. It seemed nearly universally recognized that an excellent education is essential to a family holding on to power. And even in the controversies of the day (such as religion) children of the ruling class were exposed to a surprisingly wide range of ideas. Including those treated as heresy for the general population.

@martin_piper Agreeing with @futurebird here. Royal women could be very well-educated. Eleanor of Aquitane spoke several languages, for one example.

Someone said it's important say this publicly in the US: so I will. (And I think each of us should, online and to friends)

This November I will vote for Biden.

I would regard not voting for Biden, particularly in: PA, OH, MI, WI, IN, IL,VA, GA, FL, AZ, ME, NC, NH, etc. as a huge error. I'd be disappointed to find out anyone I knew didn't vote. It's one of a long list of things we need to do. We can't skip it.

And still? We deserve better choices, and in the future we shall have them.

    @dillyd Burlington is a 3-hr+ drive from here and neither of us wants to fight the traffic we're assuming will be choking the roads. Flatlanders are bad enough on the roads during leaf-peeping season. 😀
