Just shipped a new mini side-project for Pixelfed + Laravel Forge + Cloudflare.

This tool enhances your @pixelfed server security by automatically updating your server's firewall to allow only Cloudflare IP ranges, effectively blocking unauthorized requests.

This can ensure that only legitimate traffic reaches your server, reducing the risk of attacks and unauthorized access.

Simply add 2 env vars and setup the scheduler, and it will auto-update 😎

@dansup @pixelfed while I like this improvement very much. Due to the recent events regarding cloudflare I'm not planning to use cloudflare at all. Not now or in the future. Their sales tactics and the way the company is treating customers is instantly bad.

I missed chatting with fellow fediverse developers regarding interop, specifically for our upcoming Groups feature!

It's a nice break from solo dev to be able to chat and catch up with other devs, especially my russian brother from another mother @grishka (maybe he will follow me back one day 👀)

I've also reached out to Lemmy devs and plan to get in touch with kbin/mbin and friendica/hubzilla devs soon.

Thanks to @NGIZero for funding the Pixelfed Groups feature, it will be a game changer!

@dansup that is indeed fine! The M in Mbin stands for Melroy indeed. However, I'm not the only developer. Using the c4 way of working everybody who is contributing long enough will get the ability to become an maintainer as well with full rights.

    @dansup @ravi actually it's up to you. If you are helping the community and the world for that matter with other tools and useful websites, why not?

    Focus in important of course, at the same time you don't get paid for it. So why wouldn't you allow yourself to also work on side projects you like to work on?

    Those people don't see the value of the other projects, but I do.

    You don't need multiple accounts on Mastodon and the Fediverse, but in some situations they can be very useful. For example, you might want to have separate work and personal accounts, or specialist accounts, or accounts on different types of Fediverse server with different features.

    All the apps support being logged into multiple accounts at once, as do the websites and web apps.

    @FediTips you mentioned you don't need multiple accounts on the fediverse. Fediverse includes also group support. While I love mastodon it's mainly focused as a Twitter alternative. But not aimed as a reddit alternative. https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/139

    Which is fine. But keep in mind if you want to use software that does require specific implementation of activitypub you might need other software, which might need another fediverse account.

    @FediTips I think the main sofware which is used now is lemmy and not guppe. Also I'm the creator of the fork mbin, which is a fork of kbin, mbin is focused on the community.

    You just might want to extend that page with more possible options. And mastodon isn't really great in handling groups too bad.
