@megmuttonhead@mas.to

I’m a Quaker, a Pagan, a grandmother (which is SO much more interesting than it sounds), a writer and a garrulous introvert. I’m a fat athlete, a Trekkie, an anti-racist, and I’m addicted to books. My pronouns are she/her.

@pluralistic I’m reading it now!

It’s excellent, and the vision of how we could begin to express the best we could be instead of the worst is both inspiring and terrifying—terrifying because I am on tenterhooks with worry about the harm a backlash might cause the protagonist and his allies.

I love it, but it’s also a scary, scary book to read, because its hopefulness makes clear what we have to lose (now as well as in the near future of the book).

Dan Froomkin on how the DC political press has no clue – does not want to have a clue:

"We are one election away from becoming a Christian nationalist state, losing our democracy as we know it, and putting the fate of our country in the hands of a corrupt madman filled with fever dreams of retribution. And yet political journalists seem to think this is just fine. Fun, even."

@GottaLaff I thought about voting in my state’s Republican primary, so I could vote Haley over Trump. But she, too, is loathsome, and even in a primary, I could not make myself do it.

Voted Biden in the Democratic primary, because the effort to pressure Biden to pressure Israel over Gaza by voting “None of the Above” doesn’t strike me as useful, and I don’t want to feed the trolls writing headlines at the NYT and other newspapers. I just don’t have the stomach for it.

Supreme Court to weigh #Trump immunity, keeps D.C. trial on hold— Bloomberg #SCOTUS

“Supreme Court to decide Trump’s immunity claim in election interference case

“Even if the justices ultimately rule against Trump, the court’s intervention adds a further delay, meaning his trial will not start for weeks, if not months.

Robert Hubbell discusses how Biden and the Democrats can't win for losing when it comes to the New York Times:

"After Biden’s commanding, unprecedented win in South Carolina, the NYTimes Pitchbot proposed this headline:

'Biden’s closer-than-expected 95-point win in today’s South Carolina primary could hint at general election weakness.'"
