🇺🇸 I know Americans don't like it when non-citizens talk about their politics, however how you vote affects the world so I have this to say:

If you had conversations with loved ones who were in Europe during the rise of Hitler & WWII you would understand the oftentimes paralyzing fear that we feel while watching helplessly as the US battles the rising tide of fascism in the GOP.

Please do not abstain from voting, and don't waste your vote on a third party candidate.

@Snowshadow @mekkaokereke Republicans might be the fascists but Democrats are the ones making fascists seem like the better option to many ppl. If Democrats don't govern better, won't we still be in exactly the same place 4 years from now?

When you meet someone in real life who is on X, who does not understand the value of switching to Mastodon, I recommend telling them that unlike X…

  1. Mastodon is both free and ad free for all users

  2. Everyone gets the same set of features, so editing typos or writing longer posts is not reserved for the rich kids.

  3. There is no algorithm, so everyone's content spreads if we the users decide it is great content.

@randahl

  1. Mastodon is free for most users and very expensive for the admins

  2. There is no algorithm, so even great content quickly gets buried by the large pile of mediocre, but more recent content

    the buybacks aren't a google problem, they're a government-enabled tax cheat to move profits from annually taxed dividends to "maybe never taxed" capital gains. If we're not going to close the loophole, we shouldn't be surprised when companies keep using it.

    @TruthSandwich @abhijith @palestine @israel right, it was the Palestinians who rejected peace every time. Baruch Goldstein and Yigal Amir were totally in favor of peace.
