Recall when Google was going to put requirements on bulk email senders to minimize spam?
https://blog.google/products/gmail/gmail-security-authentication-spam-protection/

I now have 2-3x the spam I had before on my gmail account.

What hapt?

Also, if some expert could help me understand...

If I am getting 100 or even 1000 spam emails a day... why not 1 million? Seriously.

The number staying at a roughly steady daily rate seems to imply only a few spammers are behind it and throttling their attack. So why then can't they be found and dealt with?

If it were unfettered I feel like I'd be seeing an unlimited amount of spam.

@dymaxion
yeah, i get that... limited resources... but given that we live in a world of 8 billion ppl... i just mean it seems like the bad actors need to be few else I'd be seeing unlimited spam once my email is on the lists

Here is a fun thing you can try.

Go to github, sign in, and follow the fedi projects, , , , etc. for awhile ... you shall be overwhelmed with all of the email notifications detailing all of the work being done!

Kind of amazing.

I know this goes for any major project, but in particular is being banged on relentlessly by many developers, all day, every day.

Do any apps allow you to login to multiple accounts and view all of the timelines combined? ?

That is, merge , , etc. Homes into a single Home... Same for notifications, local feeds, global feeds etc? For extra credit, boost across multiple accounts.

I used to religiously read a single book at a time. I am now actively trying to have at least 2 or 3 going at once. I am finding that I am finishing many more books in less time.

Is this common? And why did I not discover this about myself before now?

Any tips on forcing to federate edits when you update and save a post?

I really want to see succeed. But I don't see many videos slide across my feed. It feels like PeerTube videos don't achieve wide federation.

I think this is because people don't follow as many PeerTube accounts and because PeerTube accounts don't post as often as Mastodon or other microblogging accounts.

Consider this... there isn't much downside to following all PeerTube accounts that you come across and boosting their posts because they are few and infrequent.

Fathom Events has a bunch of anniversary movies coming back to theaters this year. Labyrinth, The Nevereding Story, The Muppet Movie, Rear Window, The Fifth Element, Blazing Saddles, Steel Magnolias, etc.

    Take earplugs.

(seriously, these old movie soundtracks, on modern sound systems, turned up to 11, will blow up your head, speaking of which, where is Scanners on the list?)

Feels like theaters are missing an opportunity.

I think Buffy is credited (among others) with helping transform TV from weekly bottle episodes into long form storytelling arcs that span seasons, far outstripping what cinema could do (the former king of long form visual storytelling). A golden age of TV was wrought.

But cinemas just took it lying down.

Instead, why not offer weekly episode viewing?

I would pay to see new episodes of The Expanse on the big screen with other fans, for example.

I love on when they go on a clandestine mission and they put on their black jazz dance outfits like Danny Kaye.
