Honest question; why does this have to be a volunteer role? Is there any room in the Open Collective fund to pay towards renumerating someone for something like this?

jpeps ,

Thank you for answering, and for the work you do. I will increase my donation amount :)

jpeps ,

Do you mean self-effacing by any chance? Love that for you if you not though

jpeps ,

My bad!

jpeps ,

This as exactly my thought. It's not crazy to imagine this when I know for a fact systems exist in supermarkets to calculate optimal prices in different stores, based on the size of the store, the demographics of the area it's in etc

jpeps ,

I can do this! I forget the name for it but I can rumble my ears, and then I can also 'pop' them if I go a little further. I'm so grateful for it if I ever go through a pressure change, I can't imagine how people cope without being able to do it.

jpeps ,

Sounds about right. I would connect this action to my jaw, not anything with my eyes like some others have said. When you say short, do you mean the sound doesn't last very long? I can keep it going more or less as long as I want.

jpeps ,

I have this! For ages I've been trying to figure out how to do it on command but so far I can only do it while yawning.

jpeps ,

I guess there's multiple ways to hit it. I feel it in my jaw but it's the same process as wiggling my ears (though I don't have to do that at the same time if I don't want to).

I'm pretty sure it's just trendy to call Google search shit, and to criticise the top product. I'm also pretty sure DDG is just uses Bing search under the hood (plus it's privacy features), so I always thought these complaints were quite funny. The ads on Google are probably the most aggressive though, which IMO is the worst part.

On release: "you've paid your debt to society, now pay your debt to the prison!"

Teacher who resigned after her OnlyFans page was discovered says new employer fired her for violating social media policy ( www.kbtx.com )

Had to supplement her $42,000 per year teacher salary with OF and made nearly $1 million in six months (almost 50 times as her salary) before the school caught wind of it and forced her to resign. Got a new job out of education and was fired five days later when they discovered news articles about her....

I don't want to dismiss the issue of people being fired for doing completely legal things, but I can't help but agree, this always seems to be the case. I saw an article recently about a woman struggling with other parents and teachers at school because of the size of her breasts. Seemed sad enough and didn't really understand why it was newsworthy, until I saw the mention of her OnlyFans and it all clicked haha.

From what I read, they didn't shoot at the unarmed suspect but at their own cop car. Stable geniuses. I can understand why the sergeant's actions were deemed reasonable though, as she was trusting that her partner was in a life and death situation and not hesitating to back him, the truest of idiots, up.

jpeps ,

Ah sorry, you're right. I misread the article thinking they were all at or in the SUV.

3 of your examples are not American though, but British. The BBC and The Guardian certainly aren't skimping on reporting facts about genocide in Gaza. This, and the fact that the context of the Gazan story is quite different, is why your argument has merit but this specific comparison isn't particularly fitting.

jpeps ,

Absolutely, for many it's nice to be under one name even if there is no legal need. I do think though that in a world where taking the male family name is not a default and anything can happen, double barrelling becomes problematic as a solution. You can only double barrel so many times! We need a new tradition that is equal for everyone and scales well. My favourite is what I once witnessed at a fantastic wedding. Before cutting their cake, the happy couple literally did a coin flip to choose who would take the other's name. It was easily the most exciting part of the day.

jpeps ,

Are you sure? 'nonconsenusual sexual contact' sounds like it could cover more than penatrative rape.

On a holiday to a suburban part of the States we walked around and counted over 10 different individual services on a single street. Blew my mind. I get what others are saying that obviously whether you're paying privately or through taxes etc it still costs money, but what really sticks with me is what I can only assume is huge inefficiencies in these areas
