In a misguided effort to be "unbiased," most news media have stopped calling Trump's Big Lie about the 2020 election what it is. Instead they're using terms like "false statements" or "claims without evidence."

Memo to the media: Calling out lies isn't "biased." It's your job.

Thanks for the link. I agree with many of the points in the article, except that it implies an unbroken America before Trump. I don't buy that. For decades American leadership talked up America as a moral, shining city on the hill. But the whole time they're making themselves and their friends wealthy by acting directly opposite to what they're asking us to believe. It's a con, no wonder we eventually elected the greatest conman.

That was quite a day. That day I discussed that with a good family friend who supported the guy. And he defended it. Saying he'd be willing to give it a try. A smart guy, like a really smart, gentle, shirt off your back kind of guy. Not that I didn't know this Trump thing was different by that point, but I guess the level to which he had hold on his followers I didn't fully appreciate until that day. Damn that was a day.

I still hear people arguing that prosecuting a former president sets a “dangerous precedent.”

The truly dangerous precedent would be to establish that presidents are above the law.
