Today is an important day. Our and is on the line The is going to vote on something disgusting that could effect every EU citizen and every company negatively. We are on the brink of being completely monitored, surveilled, online.
We have no big farmers vehicles, no hands glued to art. Nobody knows anything about these plans. We just don't know.
There would be outrage but there is none, except in the few who know what is on the line.

This is fantastic. Thank you so much for sharing. OpenBSD doesn't support ZFS (unlikely it ever will) - but our instance runs on a VM on a hypervisor with ZFS.

Turns our that is was really useful when doing disaster recovery way back. Despite a completely borked up RAID-Z array due to multiple disks failing - could still rescue it without even touching the backups :awesome:

I am a bit out of the game - previously Apple would have somewhat custom cards that combined WiFi and BT. IIRC the chip had a somewhat different identifier. Haven't tried compiling a custom driver.

Ofcourse - VPN services are a complete clusterfuck and not to be trusted. They do not offer anonymity or a magic protection against adversaries and data theft.

However, it is way worse than I assumed. For instance, NordVPN pays competitor employees visits in their personal address, threatens and extorts them. They are owned by a data mining company - and much, much more.

This is sick. Better steer clear of VPN services.

    h3artbl33d OP ,
    @h3artbl33d@exquisite.social avatar

And if you must - only use it to circumvent georestrictions. I occasionally use Mullvad if there is no other way. This is not an endorsement - I do not trust them. Just feels like the lesser evil choice (feels being the operative word, no way to prove the trustworthiness).

Also: never trust randos on the internet. That includes me :flan_molotov:

Yep. Among others, red flags include:

    • Big discount on long term subscriptions (eg: buy three years and get 75% off),
    • Countdown timers in those discounts,
    • Reseller programs,
    • Affiliate marketing,
    • Spreading FUD,
    • Offshore "untouchable" hosting,
    • Magix fix to protect against evil hoodie wearing hackers with a Matrix screensaver.

    Headbang Friday

Imagine an organ, church choir, metal riffs and a drumkit together. Sounds a bit extravagant, eh? Well - obviously you aren't familiar with the compositions of Victor Love - aka Keygen Church / Master Boot Record.

La Chiave Del Mio Amor is a masterpiece with intertwined organs, a choir and brutal metal. You'll likely need a few mins to recover after blessing your ears (...and soul) with this banger.

If you ever pondered over running your own Fediverse instance, it is as simple as:

    1. Get your own @OpenBSDAms machine
    2. Grab the Honk code
    3. Install and configure
    4. Fetch the avatar automatically generated by the NSA
    5. Enjoy

It is as simple as that. Really. :flan_hacker:

LastPass had an outage of nearly twelve hours yesterday, where users couldn't login to access their password vault.

This is one of the (many) reasons why you shouldn't use essential tools that are either cloud-first or cloud-bound. There are decent alternatives, like KeePassXC or Bitwarden with the selfhosted server (Vaultwarden).

Software being open, libre or whatever that person calls it isn't a guarantee that it is private, free of backdoors or malware etc. It merely means that you have the ability to study the code, adjust the working etc to your liking.

There can be a huge difference between the code and any binary format and/or installer that is offered by OSS projects.

In that regard, there might be very little to no difference between propretairy and OSS. Unless you have skills, time and resources to audit tbe code and compile it yourself.
