For every day I spend systematically answering e-mails, I leave dozens of books unread.

I already have an email policy in my syllabus, which says that I prefer to answer questions in class, since we see each other several days a week.
What other tips do you have that have worked for you?

I'm working on an academic book and need some help. I need to translate some Russian passages into English. My publisher does not allow the use of computer tools to do this, it must be done by a human. I'm not being paid for this work, so unfortunately don't have any budget to pay for this, but you would certainly be acknowledged. Please let me know if you help! @academicchatter

Today I have been notified that I am the recipient of a $10,000 grant. The American Council of Learned Societies award was very competitive (more than 150 proposals).
My research project will analyze the (mis)representation of Black bodies in Spanish museum iconography.

Today I had a colloquium with a local community college to celebrate . My topic was “Whose Mother Language?”, as a reflection and invitation to decolonize the language program curriculum, the canon (if such a thing exists), and the ancillary materials. @academicchatter

I am pleased to share that this Thursday, February 22 I will be speaking at Anne Arundel Community College (Baltimore, MD) on how to promote Language Justice in the curriculum. One of my students will also be participating to talk about empowering communities to speak their own language. @academicchatter

The Politics of Rage: Outlines Towards an Affective and Feminist Theory.
In this lecture, Dr. Ana María Miranda Mora will explore the role of rage in feminist movements in Latin America. She will analyze and present
some elements for formulating an effective feminist theory of rage understood as a political emotion. The aim is to explore how rage and indignation are transformed into political action.

From a survey of @penn_state : "72% …reported they had not purchased a course’s required textbook, and 33% said they had not registered for a specific course because of its cost of required course materials. In addition, 33% said they had earned a poor grade because they couldn’t afford to purchase a course textbook, and 17% dropped a course because of the cost of materials required for the course."

@petersuber @penn_state @academicchatter This is why I wrote my own textbook for my Spanish class. It is for free for them and they all have access before and after the course starts. It took me some time to write it, for sure, but it is great to feel that you do not collaborate with the rotten textbook system. #OER #FreeTextbook
