Things people say, nod and agree with, but did we really think about that?

"Short form video content is bad it makes for short attention spans."

Been hearing this a lot with reference to tiktok. But, it's been around since I was a kid. (MTV is bad, see MaxHeadroom satirizing this through blipverts)

OK, the way that tiktok can induce slack-jawed zoned out infi-scrolling seems "bad" because that seems like manipulation.

But short form content? Is it really bad?

@futurebird no, I do think strict character limits are bad. You feel forced to strip nuance or reply to yourself 10 times where you can be quoted out of context

@futurebird I bet the dirty secret of the ad economy Is unattended viewing. You can rack up hours of watch time easy by not being there. Why do you think kids stuff is so prolific relitive to their spending power? Because kids so stuff like leave the ipad in the other room and forget it while they're watching all the time

Aw yeah ban teens from social media but make it legal for them to work the night shift in the cold chopping room at the meat-chopping factory.

These kids will hate us all forever and we will deserve it.

The active shooter drills, failing to protect trans teens, taking their damn phones, burning their books and sending them to the factory. Fail fail fail fail fail.

@mondoweiss @palestine the term is controlled opposition. For example, Israel funds hamas to stop other groups that aren't as conductive to Israeli intrests

@philip_cardella you've got a good point but there doesn't seem to be anyone with that magic trump has to her diehard followers put of previously apolitical people. He has that weird charisma that seems important to the whole process. Does the GOP have a truly worthy sucessor to trump?
