UK elections are on Thursday, and in a few months, Nigel Farage has raised his Reform party from 6 to now 17 percent.

Yep… that Farage, who promised UK voters a land of milk and honey, if they voted for his Brexit. And now that Brexit has proven to be a ticket to economic disaster and endless bureaucracy, Farage is telling the Brits, that its all the immigrants’ fault.

17 percent have fallen for this conman.

It is a mystery, how humans could ever become the dominant species on this planet.

😰 the ancient greek created democracy . But voting was not done by all people . Only by a wealthy and honourable part. This way they prevented voting by the mob of society. French and american revolution even limited voting. Also in UK voting was not for everybody in their history. Many historiens and sociologist recommends intelligence tests before registration instead of the automatic right for all.

I remember decades ago when a US court convicted Microsoft to seperate their browser from windows. The court wrote the verdict that Microsoft ilegally tried to prevent competion . Since Microsoft lost it shouldn't be difficult to file the next suit .

For our asteroid naming campaign at the Hayabusa2# mission, we got dinged by the IAU for suggesting that a non-mythological name for a near-Earth asteroid might be OK.

We said this because "Itokawa" (named for the founder of Japan rocketry) is an NEA. But mythological names are strongly preferred in case the asteroid becomes a threat to Earth & we have to get rough (better to attack "Ares" than "Mr Rogers").

So we added a note... but passive aggressively hint we'll be ignoring for a year 🤣

I misunderstood. Due to your former survey for none-mythological asteroids I offered that weiqi term. The problem with mythological demands is beeing almost only western or european mythological. However JAXA should take them from all the world. However I am not sure if you get much offers here. But weiqi terms could be ancient, too, due to weiqi beeing oldest game. And myths from Nippon and China there are plenty.

Because I had a meeting in France before visiting my family in the UK, my main flight home to Tokyo leaves from Paris. I’m therefore taking the Eurostar from London to Paris! I remember the channel tunnel being constructed while i was at school, but this is the first time taking the train 🚂🧜🏾‍♀️🌊

No lie: I’m excited. And I’ve packed a cheese and pickle sandwich 🥪 and a bottle of ginger beer.

Yo 🪐 spectroscopic #astrodon… how convinced are we that LHS 1140b is a water world?

The paper on arXiv is all “JWST says this be the ultimate wet n’ wild 💦🌊💧” but…

…the spectrum is actually flat.

So… actually nothing has been detected?

The authors say that this rules out a fluffball hot hydrogen atmosphere, as then you WOULD expect something (i.e. methane or carbon dioxide) but does that really constrain it?

Are all boring spectra giant swimming pools?

    Weeeeeeee! JAXA's new #H3 launch vehicle shoots into the sky! Everything seems to be going well so far. The rocket is at 690km (higher than the International Space Station), moving at 4km/s.

    Also, can we all admire the beauty of Japan's Tanegashima Space Center launch site?

    The H3 rocket launches from Tanegashima Space Center. The sea can be seen just behind the rocket launch pad.
