I would absolutely love to get my hands on the new @loops Android or iOS app by @dansup to start using it and testing it.

As many of you know, I do beta testing all day everyday since I work for a large Android app and most all of the software I use is beta of some form.

It would make for a great experience to dive in early and see what it's all about and report feedback as much as possible to help make it the best app out there today!

@FediTips Here's a better solution.

You do your list of instances that defederate from Threads and I'll do a list on our wiki of instances that federate with Threads and that defederate with Threads.

Then the problem is truly solved and then the Fediverse is happy as a whole, which is how things should be from the get go, instead of split because of one persons decision(s).

@FediTips Then you can't state "Those that honor the Mastodon Covenant" as you yourself and your site do NOT follow that covenant.

@FediTips Awesome! Very well said.

Please make sure your site(s) clearly state that they NO LONGER FOLLOW the rules of the Mastodon Covenant. It's very important if you're changing things from their original statements in the Covenant to be different from said Covenant. Nobody needs to be fooled into thinking that FediTips, FediGardens or anything associated with them follows the Mastodon Covenant since you'll be making YOUR OWN RULES.

@shanie I'll say this ONE MORE TIME! It's not about them changing the rules. It's about HOW they confronted us, what they said and HOW they said it.

Until you read everything and know what's being discussed and why it's being discussed, then you can't clearly comment, because you're commenting about something totally different than the subject at hand.

There's nothing in the covenant that requires defederation with anyone, either!

Correct me if I'm wrong about that and if I am, then please show me exactly where in the Mastodon Covenant that it states that.

@shanie Yep, exactly this. The message was basically him bullying admins, as has been stated by at least 3 other admins who received the message.

Seems a little unfair to label them as such. Especially if said instances have a few hundred users that are happy and fully enjoying the Fediverse.

I'm curious who else got a DM from a certain Fediverse account that lists different instances for people to get information about? Specifically asking about a DM telling you that to continue to be listed on their site, your instance is required to defederate from a certain other platform that is owned by Meta.

If you got a DM from them and care to share that information, that would be great.

@FediTips While I get your opinion on all of this, the way you're going about it is wrong and you're hurting yourself and a lot of others in the long run by stating: "Defederate from Threads or your instance can't be listed." That hurts the entire Fediverse by not being able to discover instances that do their best on a daily basis to offer a safe, welcoming home for anyone and everyone.

I purposely didn't call you out, and I asked others not to do so either, but this needs to be thought out.

@FediTips But that's the entire point, let the USERS make that decision on their own. You're free to make your own decision, why can't they?

If you want, label each server in the list if they federate with Meta or whomever else you are against. But the choice shouldn't be yours totally when you are offering what I thought was a GREAT service by providing the list that you were providing.

@FediTips You could have done so in a completely different way. You basically told us, change or get out. Let's discuss things, let's come to a solution between all of us.

Again, you're offering a GREAT service, yet you want to go and ruin it for a large part of the Fediverse, when that didn't need to happen. Let's work together, let's build something great together instead of trying to tear it down like you're trying to do.

@FediTips Those things are going to happen on every platform in this world regardless if instances defederate from Threads or not.

Just because you defederate from Threads doesn't solve world problems, and in fact, causes bigger problems or other problems.

If you stand by your decision to only list instances that defederate from Threads and those that share your same opinion, then so be it. If so, I ask that you remove AllThingsTech immediately because that's not our decision.

This last wave of spam attacks was quite brutal to say the least.

While didn't send out any of the spam, thankfully, I personally dealt with being spammed BIG TIME! I think I created 100+ reports and blocked 700+ accounts in total.

The good news is, this wave should be over with since the kid got arrested:

@renchap I read that last year when you posted it and I agree, lots of great ideas and thoughts in that post.

I know this is going to be something that we have to deal with and fight at all times basically, which is sad. I just hope to see the sign up process be much better than it is today.

I know captcha can be difficult for disabled people, but I think that's one of many things that will help. Though it hurts in other ways.
