what movie should i watch, i want to watch something that is really weird and different, maybe kind of funny, can be dark but not horror. anything come to mind?

@loren everything everywhere all at once is def weird, different and funny. I also really liked poor things for the same reasons. Both require active thinking, so if you’re looking to turn your brain off, these are not the ones. Pitch Perfect in that case?

The cover of Daytripper is, well, kind of trippy. A man sits on a park bench, with a dog in front of him. Pretty normal so far, right? Except we can see his thoughts, which are presented in watercolor splashes of imagination. There is the precarious love he shares with an adventurous woman, represented by them both standing up in a boat. There is an image of a great modern city. And there us his trusty typewriter. Sure, he uses it for his newspaper job, but he writes about life and death; it's impossible to think about the beginning and the end without considering all the chapters of one's own life, and about what it all means.

    @kimlockhartga @bookstodon blood meridian was intense. Amazing but intense. This was the first Cormac book I read and in it he describes being in love but without any sappy language that was typical. I didn’t start with this one on purpose, but I’m glad it was my first McCarthy book.

    same weevil on my finger now with both front legs up above their head as if their are at another point in their little dance
    same weevil on my finger but their front left leg is now out to the left and right front leg is hidden behind their body again as if they are doing a little dance

    so. in January I was in a bad car accident. fractured spine, ruptured discs, cracked pelvis, broken arm. last 4 months have been v hard. tonight though I'm going back to my adult dance class for the first time. I wasn't sure I'd ever even walk properly again so this is a moment for me. a good one

    I know that people say it's unethical but I think it's good to let a cat use her instincts for mousing.

    It’s been a long day. Had a camping trip planned for the weekend, with a stop to pick up my new Corolla Cross Hybrid on the way back on Monday. Unexpectedly, the car arrived today and they wouldn’t hold it for me until Monday. So I had to unpack all the camping gear and haul down to south OC (from el lay) on a Friday afternoon. Traded in my old, wrote a big check, and took the car home. Dead tired but I’m going camping tomorrow! First trip got almost 44 mpg too.

    Flaco, an Eurasian eagle owl that escaped from the Central Park zoo is still flying around and living in the park. Several of my coworkers have seen him and I always look out for the bird.

    Flaco has been eating rats and seems to like city life. He seems to live on the upper west side, impressive that a bird can swing the rent in that neighborhood.
