China has more infrastructure than what it needs. What they should do instead is not have their entire population as slaves. What does economic growth mean if the population earns almost no money. They don't even consume the products they produce, almost all of it is exported. They are billions of people, it's not like there's a lack of demand, they just don't have the money to buy what they produce.

Did shrinkflation not hit america? Everything in that photo is huge, and it's not like the car is small. Even while having a huge car as the background, the food looks huge.

The same Xi that violates Taiwan's airspace continuously. That increases the airspace violations whenever Taiwan does something that he doesn't like, like democratically electing pro-independence politicians or when US politicians visit Taiwan.

Yeah sure Xi, the only reason you threaten Taiwan's democracy is because the US tricked you into it.

calcopiritus ,

I guess it's racist to criticize the unelected government of china now.

Context: rule 1 is about xenophobia/racism.

Yep. Plenty of china criticism allowed in .ml

calcopiritus ,

Yeah that's not accurate. They have plenty of oligarchs. Only most of their population is enslaved.

calcopiritus ,

Considering that 100+ is red, most is orange, low is yellow, it looks like "look these are the bad countries with depressed people".

calcopiritus ,

So much focus on democracy. Yet when a significant portion of your population (Scotland) wants to vote to leave the UK (partly so they can stay in the EU) you don't even let them.

Sounds like cherry picking democracy is no longer an issue.

calcopiritus ,

I did.

calcopiritus ,

Because you claim that the main reason that the UK left the EU was because: democracy above everything. Yet the UK in itself is weirdly undemocratic.

If you matching the other's violence means you could kill him, it means he could've just as easily killed you first.

If you don't defend yourself in a situation where you could just die, you're incredibly stupid.

This picture shows the influence of the nuclei, not the nuclei themselves. The nuclei are much smaller. If you throw an electron at an atom, the nucleus will change that electron's direction even if it doesn't hit it, just by being close.

And that maximum length is... 6 characters. S I X

If a black person robs your house and he says "I robbed your house because I'm black", you're gonna hate black people because they commit crimes. The thing is, no one says "I robbed your house because I'm black" because it doesn't make sense and it's not true.

However, the feminists that hate men do say "I hate men because I'm feminist", which make a lot of men think that feminism is about hating men, before they have to chance to learn what feminism is really about. Specially considering that the "I hate men" feminists are very loud.

The name doesn't make it easier though. This doesn't happen in English, but in spanish (my language) when a man does sexism it's called "machismo". And we say "machismo" way more often than "sexismo". To someone unaware, "feminist" seems like "the women version of machismo".

In my opinion we should stop using the term "feminism" and change to a more accurate term that isn't misleading. In the western modern society (not the USA, abortion banning troglodytes) women don't really need that radical of change anymore, we're almost there in gender equality, can't risk going back by making young men afraid of the movement just because the name is no longer accurate.

calcopiritus ,

I suggest you read my comment again. It seems like you are replying to another dude. I don't know what my "unwillingness to change" refers to.

I am a feminist suggesting that we should change the name from "feminism" to any other thing like "gender equality" or whatever.

Because a lot of people are politically lazy. They don't care to inform themselves about what "feminism" means, they just heard their Andrew tate telling them that it's a women-run society or whatever bullshit. Which would make sense if it's the first time you heard the term, it's right there "fem-something".

It's much easier to convince people that A means equal rights if A is called "equal rights". It works too well, some people even think that china is communist because it's ran by the communist party, and that the DPRK is democratic because the D stands for democratic.

My dog once crawled below my neighbour's chicken pen and killed 2 chickens.

Do you know what we didn't do? Kill the dog.

What did we do? Just buy him 2 new chickens of his choosing.

We now have a happy cute dog, and my neighbour still has chickens. He has never again killed a chicken.

A few years later a wild animal entered the pen and killed all of his chickens, but that's another story.

calcopiritus ,

Good or bad, it doesn't belong in that list. Trump made the decision to leave Afghanistan. By the time Biden had the power it was too late to stay there.

calcopiritus ,

What kind of taxes are there? When do you pay taxes (after what activity)? Who do you pay them to?

Not just math (which is often just a %, or brackets) to calculate taxes, the entire process.

calcopiritus ,

Because all the things in that picture are produced by people working. If there are not people working to make clothes, you don't get clothes. If there are not people making and maintaining power plants, there is no electricity. And so on.

It's okay if temporarily non working people, or people that are unable to work, or people that work but are not paid enough gets these things for free (or deeply discounted. But if absolutely everyone gets all of that for free, there won't be enough people working just to sustain the ones who won't.

calcopiritus ,

It's not that "nothing will get done". Sure, some people will work, but much less, if you could get a "fulfilling life" regardless of employment status.

There is already many (quotation needed) people that choose to live off of family members+the state in exchange of some (or a lot) quality of life.

The more you provide for free, the less people will need to work (and some people work only because they need to). This will put more strain on the people that do work, because they are the ones that pay more taxes, which would lead to less luxuries for the people that do actually work.

The higher the production, the higher mean (not median, the rich will always skew the curve a lot) QoL. The idea behind this post aims to increase the median QoL, but I think it'll just bring the mean closer to the median, and shrink the whole thing.

calcopiritus ,

Well, that implies that it is made with that community in mind, not that everyone in that community needs it.

calcopiritus ,

Because you can't play steam games on the phone. Pretty easy to understand.

calcopiritus ,

Even for someone that doesn't leave their basement, can't use the computer in bed.

calcopiritus ,

As a dog owner, I wish this happened in my city. Every time I walk the dog I have to be extremely careful not to step on other dog's shit.

One time my GF was walking the dog wearing sandals and stepped on a dogshit. The owner of the dogshit approached her and told her "How dare you walk on sandals here, dogs shit here", he later said "I'm a very good dog owner, I always carry a bag with me" (I guess to pick up the shit if police is nearby) "But I don't like picking up the dog's shit, it's nasty".

People just suck.

calcopiritus ,

Probably because rust links statically by default, so making a library gpl means users will be forced to make their project GPL too, so MIT libraries have an incredible advantage.

IANAL though, so idk.

calcopiritus ,

GPL libraries have an advantage in their legal power. MIT libraries have an advantage when users have to choose between 2 libraries.

All other things being equal, users will use more permissive libraries. So unless maintainers put more effort into the GPL, a MIT one will gather more users, which attracts more maintainers, which ends up in more MIT libraries than GPL ones existing.
