If you have not yet watched John Oliver’s presentation of the plans for Trump’s second term, I recommend you do.

Yes, it is a comedy show, but the facts presented are extremely important and eye opening.

Last Week Tonight is on Max, but if you are not a subscriber, there is a 30 minute version of the show here on YouTube:

[ Edit:
THANK YOU to everyone who participated; this was very enlightening.
I started this poll bc I mentioned we have the temp set at 61-65F in winter and 78-80F in summer, and someone called me "radical" for doing that.

But it seems I am not alone in setting it at 79F or higher in summer! ]

TWO polls (second one in the first comment)

  1. There's a heat wave on.
What is your AC's set point?
    Leave a comment to elaborate.

@CelloMomOnCars I missed the survey! I have one window A/C downstairs and one upstairs. I run them alternating (so I'm only cooling the area I'm in). Generally that keeps the temp of the floor with the A/C running at about 26c. With this method, my solar panels pretty much produce all the electricity needed for A/C plus everything else. For example, this month (with a more than week-long heatwave), I actually still delivered 100 excess KWh to the grid.

@CelloMomOnCars My neighbors let a tree at the end of their driveway grow that shades the panels a fair amount. It's gotten pretty big (makes a nice street tree!). Surprisingly, the output of the panels has not seemed to go down much (if at all) over the three years that the tree started shading them. It's not a magnificent oak, though :).

Not sure why this message is not being amplified more:

"Once it reaches the atmosphere, methane’s super heat-trapping properties render it a major agent of warming. Over 20 years, methane causes 85 times more warming than the same amount of carbon dioxide. But methane doesn’t stay in the atmosphere for long, so stopping methane leaks today can have a fast impact on lowering global temperatures."
