Haven’t been out with the camera in more than two weeks. Not sure how I feel about it yet.

@amytabb@hachyderm.io avatar

@Jgbird I have also been taking a big break. I edited a batch and realized I had not grabbed any files from the camera since April 3 -- which well is a long time.

I think a break to think and look at the world a bit without a camera is good sometimes.

    @philip_cardella Hope it turns out ok. It does not sound like a fun 24-48 hours.

    Seeing an ad for

    THE COLOSSAL POLLINATOR GARDEN KIT

    and I'm thinking, hey I don't want a T-Rex-sized butterfly! I mean, I'm sure they are cool and all, but I don't have space for these colossal pollinators!

    @loren HUGE

    like the movie Rampage, but with pollinators. The possibilities!

    Is there a spreadsheet program that’s not excel or libreoffice that isn’t terrible?

    amytabb ,
    @amytabb@hachyderm.io avatar

    @loren
    "Excel circa 1997"
    does few things

    but

    does them reliably

    amytabb ,
    @amytabb@hachyderm.io avatar

    @loren YES

    I don't need autocomplete, or correct grammar, or autocaptalization (this is my most recent fight in libreoffice) or whatever. It is a spreadsheet, not a novel.

    amytabb ,
    @amytabb@hachyderm.io avatar

    @loren These should* be a way to use old versions, especially of libreoffice. I'll plan to look into this. I don't use spreadsheets very often, but it felt a lot easier in the past, and then recently I have had more fights. hmmmm.

    *it may take quite a while for me to look into this.

    @loren Wow looking at the replies --- Modern CSV is awesome. It does exactly what I want without the junk.

    I had an appointment in Delaware & stopped at a park before driving back. Super fun. There was an Osprey nest near a Canada Goose nest. Whenever the Osprey pair was together, an Osprey would strafe the geese.

    I was too far away for detail, even w/ a teleconverter, but I remembered some things, learned some things, & captured some interesting shapes. (Next post, goose tongue detail)

    Geese are NOT happy. (detail from above)

    amytabb OP ,
    @amytabb@hachyderm.io avatar

    More Canada Goose displeasure. I was thinking how stressful this would be, to have an Osprey fly by with talons out every 15 minutes, but then again, Canada Geese can be aggressive too. 3/

    The whole scene: Osprey 1 on the osprey nest to the left, Osprey 2 attacking geese, Geese on the goose nest to the right. It has been suggested (in person, when I was at the park, and on Mastodon) that the geese were in the osprey's nest. I don't know, I don't live there! But at this point, the ospreys have a decent, sticky nest going (even if I didn't include as much in the frame as I wanted to). 4/

    As of this month I’ve been taking Ozempic for a year and I will continue to take indefinitely. I want to share my experience because the way I sometimes see it discussed gives what I think is the wrong impression.

    I decided to take it since I was struggling to regain full mobility after breaking my leg. I wish I could have discovered this drug 30 years ago.

    I’ve only been overweight for 8 years. So why do I say that? 1/

    @futurebird Yes. And you also mentioned you had to eat to hold off headaches.
