The US is overall a shithole masquerading as a first world country, only on the basis that the US is lucky enough to have had Europe use the dollar to rebuild after WWII. You'd have to squint incredibly hard to find any place comparable to Europe in the US, and then you'd still be stuck with car centric neighbourhoods and healthcare that'll put you in a life debt for stubbing your toe.

Passion, quality, respect for the source material. Star Wars has lost a lot of critical things and it's been own a steep downward spiral.

Now we have The Acolyte... Basically a badly written fanfic that prioritises the personal opinions of the writer more than consistency with the rest of Star Wars.

Here in Denmark a crazed man attacked the Fields shopping center with a couple of hunting rifles. The first time something like this happened in a very long time.

Danish armed police had a quick response time. Loads of dudes with in full body armour and MP-5s guarding every main exit while other guys went inside to clear out the civilians and hunt the shooter down.

The sniper equipped helicopter circling the shopping center spotted the shooter coming out of a service door and he subsequently got caught.

I think in total only 5 people died, which was from the short period when the guy started shooting.

All the right wing gun addicts from America were chest thumping and table banging, shouting all over social media that this somehow was an example that gun laws don't work. However, considering this happened within a short period after the school shooting in America, all it truly did was make American police look like a bad joke.

This strongly reminds me of WWII England and their "Carry on!" attitude. Read stories about how families would hide together in the London Underground, and just have casual social conversations with tea and biscuits while the bombs destroyed their homes above their heads.

I'm really bothered by this line of thinking.

Just because something "looks" like it is a certain way doesn't mean it is. For anything to be considered fact there needs to be evidence. The hypothesis that the Earth may have plate tectonics existed decades before it became fact.

This leads people to make connections between completely unrelated things, despite scientists, or professionals working in fields of science (i.e. doctors), saying, and often proving, there is none.

All the pictures can be taken in a single afternoon. Overlaying all the pictures and then removing the appropriate parts with an erasor tool takes less than an hour. The most challenging part is the big giant one I the background, as that requires time to make a neat cut-out with a selection tool.

Overall, this would still take... Less than a day to do, if you got a decent tripod.

The definition of "retardation" is as follows:

  1. The act or process of delaying or impeding.
  2. The condition of being delayed or impeded.
  3. The extent to which something is held back or delayed.

Considering that the features being complained about impede the user, calling those features "retarded" is an adequate description.

It is also in-fitting with the definition of lacking of intellectual development; as mentioned, other programs do not feature such impediments, and in the case of Office 365, may actually be a regression of features.

I honestly still don't understand what gamergate is or was.

I "lived" through it, and both read and saw post mortem videos about it, as well as had various people try to explain it to me. And yet it never made any sense to me.

Nobody can, it seems, point to the specific thing it was about. It's vague, it's nebulous, and it seems to me more like there was controversy for controversy's sake.
