Mike Johnson 'blindsided' by abrupt departure that could end Lauren Boebert's career ( www.rawstory.com )

Boebert had switched districts after Buck announced his impending retirement to avoid a stiff challenge from Democrat Adam Frisch in the 3rd district, but Buck's immediate departure will set up a special election in which the state Republican and Democratic parties will choose a nominee – and there's no guarantee they'll pick...

I see she's practicing her next outing at the cinema in that picture

NOSin ,

Ah yes, I remember seeing it in that documentary Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood, really well made

NOSin ,

How addictive it is doesn't translate as to how harmful it can be to your psyche and/or how bad the withdrawal effects are, which is what translates into people doing crazy shit for heroin, for example.

It is also ignoring how much easier you can get nicotine, compared to heroin.

This is an incredibly short sighted comment.

NOSin ,

I precisely said that withdrawals aren't the same between the two. You simply don't understand how something can be more or less addictive, while the addictions can have radically different effects and consequences.

You can literally die from alcohol withdrawal, while that could never happen for nicotine withdrawal and yet, nicotine is much more addictive than alcohol, IE you get addicted to it much more easily.

That's very true, there are numerous studies/documentaries about how Japan is an Autistic culture. Meaning, they're very adverse to anything new or foreign, and everything is very codified in how it works.
Nice but very particular culture.

NOSin ,

That's an awful reduction of something much more complex there.

NOSin ,

So you had to explain a whole geopolitical context but it's not complex ? That's also omitting that most of them are like that because "That's how it is here", they're not really racist for any other reasons than the culture being very closed to the outside world in general, it's not really Xenophobia for the sake of it.

I'm done trying to have this debate here personally, seems like you and me could have an interesting conversation but the downvotes and answers I get here clearly show people won't even try to understand the complexity of it, it's easier to deem all the Japanese racists apparently.

NOSin ,

The guy I answered to talked about "imperial fascism", are you gonna argue that it doesn't entail racism ?

A debate isn't a conflict originally, that's a very US thing. A debate is supposed to be point of views exposed from both sides, so each can learn from the other.

NOSin ,

You want to be right, and read what you want (or you wouldn't even have answered, among others things), so yes, you're right.

NOSin ,

I'll add looking up the 4 Toltec accords as well, this and NVC are amazing tools for a better life

Driving a 35M BMdoublefoot

Never seen anything get a better mileage. You have to provide all the options, upkeep can be expensive and varies wildly between users.

Wouldn't go on roads with it tho.

NOSin ,

So you think we would wait until there is a big and dangerous problem and it gets much more complicated to tackle it ?

Not sure about that one.

NOSin ,

"stealing energy" Oof

NOSin ,

The way this is written is clearly intended to speak about energy of people, and some that steal it, like you'd steal a candy on your coworker desk, for example.

Which, oof, I just can't take it seriously right from the start.

And then there's the gross generalization of people and how they act, but that's a more common trope, which can sometimes be partly true at least but meh.

NOSin ,

I see, it does make sense but there's an argument to be made about obscuring things like that (not in the case of aikido tho, here it's more of a "practical translation" of sort, and how it has always been passed down), which is why I said I can't take it seriously.

But you're right that if it profits OP, good for them, it's a bit like religion in that sense.

Thanks for the precision

NOSin ,

Not comparable, not how viruses work.

We actually saw COVID coming (researchers and scientists did at least, there are been papers and documentary about it even), but there's a very low chance we'd get yet another pandemic so soon

NOSin ,

That sounds an awful lot like someone depressed
