I have scores hidden and block at the first sign of asshattery, say what you gotta say in the first.

“Your boos mean nothing, I’ve seen what makes you cheer.”

bro, come back to me when most stores accept touch emv payments. lol, like each fucking store is gonna know what to do with a fucking palm scan when emv is fucking forbidden magic.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

I live in DC and most groceries don't support it.

Whole Foods wants to use some qr code thing, probably precursor to the palm.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

that's some mighty fine schizo posting right there.

just ping pong from point to point without any supporting arguments.

does anyone else feel enslaved?

When I was growing up the internet was a place to be liberated from the world say what you want to say, be whoever you want and form genuine communities with shared interests. Now the internet feels like a tool to enslave the mind with identity echo chambers and any deviation leads you to being banned and blocked shunned and...

I'm interacting with more people in a day than most people have in historical lifetimes.

I have more bosses to track their preferences. It feels like there's more people checking my career. They have more people to try to balance autonomy with direction.

There's more politicians talking past their constituency than ever before.

It just seems like the goal to reduce the suffering around me will always be a drop in the ocean.

What is the actual purpose of the "Favorite" button in Mastodon?

The most common answer I see is something along the lines of "it's the equivalent of liking a post on twitter". It seems that this is not the case, as the Mastodon devs seem rather adamant that they don't want "likes" in Mastodon. Perhaps it's a method of saving posts? Well, that doesn't make sense either, since there is already...

Gleason used to contribute to pleroma before the split.

They prob just wanted a tailor made soapbox.fe and once it was done didn't have any more work.

A clear victory for the free fediverse: Meta now says integrating with ActivityPub is "a long way out" ( privacy.thenexus.today )

When Meta launched their new Twitter competitor Threads on July 5, they said that it would be compatible with the ActivityPub protocol, Mastodon, and all the other decentralized social networks in the fediverse "soon"....

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

Threads will only federate if they are required to by law.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

My account never made it through the first few days before they shut it down for community violation.

I never posted, I just want to be ready for if they ever start federating.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

or we make a few accounts on a few different servers.

we don't need to identify with our fediverse accounts.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

across all languages, most new projects are published under MIT or similar.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

per post scoping was nice.

I didn't have to manually tag each account, just select the circle and publish.

YSK: If you find an interesting topic/rabbit hole, you can get some real engagement here if you share it. It doesn't get drowned out like elsewhere. ( lemmy.world )

I know a lot of lurkers like me out there are browsing, but there's quite a bit of engagement capitol on the federated instances. If you find an interesting topic and the right community, you get a lot of feedback. There's not much hate being thrown out there either.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

hard disagree and this assumption is further proof of that.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

threads will never federate.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

I think it was posturing to the countries that banned Twitter.

look, you get your own Threads in Iran.

petition: Defederate any instances that federates with threads proactivly , add threads.net on blocklists everywhere.

I really want to nip threads in the bud. Besides blocking threads.net itself, defederate from any instances that do not. This is blatantly an EEE strategy and a united front is the only way to save what have been accomplished....

JoYo ,

no it's not required but I can afford to tip so I do and that makes me better than people who don't ;)

JoYo ,

I'd say that ads don't care about creators.

We should be paying creators for content and that's not what ads do.

there's no algorithm to game.
the best they can do is spam.

JoYo ,

There seems to be a misunderstanding about NDAs.

Meta and twitter most certainly federate already.

Would you sign an NDA to learn how and where?

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

I don't use an account for browsing, Infinity let me subscribe to subreddits without an account.

eChirp is a fork of identica, did you read the article?

the original identi.ca devs are all active with the activity pub protocol project.

I'd rip out the guitar tabs from guitar magazines at the store then try and learn to play them.

My mom caught me once so then I stopped.

LMMS is pretty fun for making arbitrary boops.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

oh check out musescore 4, they've added a ton of virtual instrument features beyond midi and then you can print it out for offline.

JoYo ,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

im personally fine with using more than one website on the internet.

JoYo OP ,

is this a chatbot response?
it's kinda nonsense.

the cost is the hourly rate of updating network code with only half baked virtual networks.

I suspect Microsoft would rather I test on Azure.
